How to organically target your consumers using social media … * Use a relevant topic which will bring the community together - Created a discussion/tags. * Include hashtags - this will reach a wide audience. * Share your emotions - if you sympathise/empathise with consumers it will increase brand loyalty. * Find the gap in what is missing and target it - in our local town/village groups families and new moms were looking for places to meet people. With a following on our one Facebook page of 3.6k followers the post reached 21k people. My experience of being seriously injured in a preventable workplace accident has taught me the value of putting safety first in everything I do. Often, when we’re at home with our families or playing sports with our friends, we don’t follow the same safety procedures or protocols we do when we’re at work. Cutting the lawn wearing sandals, driving our car without a seatbelt, or playing sports without proper training are all dangerous and unsafe acts. We would never consider taking chances like this at work, so why do we feel we can ease up on the rules when we’re at home or at play? Recently, I had the opportunity to demonstrate the sport of armwrestling to the attendees of the 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 in beautiful Niagara Falls, Ontario. This demonstration was #fun and #interactive, but my main goal was to teach everyone that 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼. Even when we were all laughing and having a good time, the participants learned how to recognize and react when they find themselves in a dangerous or unsafe position. Armwrestling is a one-on-one battle. It’s a fight between two opponents but most people don’t realize it’s a #team sport. It takes #experience, #expertise, and #kindness to teach anyone to do anything safely. I sure am glad to have my Team Canada armwrestling teammate and Silver Medal winner, Tyler Bolzan, there to share his knowledge and ensure we all stayed safe and had fun. Thanks, Tyler, and thanks to everyone who took part in the demonstration. It was so fun connecting the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers community with the Armwrestling #community. A One Poll survey* found a third of disabled people felt that sporting events were not set up to cater to them. Four in ten did not feel confident enough to take part.
