Are you caught between two good options? Try this practice to help make a decision. I picked up a book last year called "The Decision Book" by Mikael Krogerus and Roman Tschäppeler - translated by Jenny Piening (https://lnkd.in/gFqqY_iv). The book contains 50 different models for making decisions and pushing people forward. Many of them are not for me, but "the rubber band model" caught my attention as someone who usually relies on pros and cons lists. Essentially, ask yourself what's holding your and what's pulling you when making a choice. The questions are positive and create a level playing field in your head. While it won't always create a clear-cut answer, I've found the approach makes me think more deeply about the decision. Answers seem to be more apparent when taking this approach. I hope it helps some of you, too! 🎨: DALL-E

In his book "The Practice," Seth Godin advocates for a daily creative practice as a path to mastery and meaningful work. He emphasizes the importance of consistent effort, experimentation, and sharing your work with the world, regardless of external validation. This practice leads to personal and professional growth, and hopefully a positive impact on the world. #sethgodin #meaningfulwork

📘 Just completed “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” by Robert B. Cialdini, and it’s a profound exploration into the art and science of persuasion! 🧠💡 The book masterfully uncovers six key principles of influence: reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social proof, authority, liking, and scarcity. These principles shed light on why people make decisions and how individuals and businesses can effectively influence behavior. Reading “Influence” has transformed my understanding of persuasion and decision-making. It’s not just about selling; it’s about understanding human psychology and applying these insights ethically in everyday interactions. #PsychologyOfPersuasion #ProfessionalDevelopment #leadershipskills

Following up on my previous post about the flaws in our culture of debate, I want to share a valuable resource: the book “𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲” 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝗰𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘆. Its key point is that changing minds is not about presenting facts but creating a safe space for discussion. The book provides deep insights into how to hold such discussions. Here are a few key takeaways and tricks from the book: 🤝 Establish a connection and build trust. New ideas are accepted more easily from trusted sources 👂❤️Show genuine empathy and listen actively. People open up when they feel understood ❓🤔 Ask, Don’t Tell: Encourage self-reflection by asking questions rather than telling someone they are wrong 🌍✨ Find Common Ground: Emphasize shared values to make conversations less confrontational ⏳🛠️ Changing minds is a slow process. Be patient and persistent 𝗜𝗻 𝗮 𝗻𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗹: 𝗦𝗵𝘂𝘁 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! “How Minds Change” is a must-read for anyone looking to foster better understanding and effective communication and who wants to work towards a more inclusive and understanding society. 🌟💬 Thanks Dr. Julia Zukrigl who posted about this book a few months ago - that's how I discovered it! #HowMindsChange #EffectiveCommunication #Understanding #Empathy #BookRecommendation

Books for soul - "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" by Robert Cialdini (1984). A thought-provoking read that delves into the psychology behind persuasion techniques. This classic explores the fascinating realm of human behavior and the art of persuasion. Cialdini masterfully dissects six principles that drive our decisions: reciprocity, commitment, social proof, authority, liking, and scarcity. 💡💼 🔍 Reciprocity: The power of giving to receive. 🤝 Commitment: How small steps lead to big commitments. 👥 Social Proof: Our tendency to follow the crowd. 👔 Authority: The influence of experts and figures of authority. ❤️ Liking: The role of attractiveness and similarity in persuasion. ⏳ Scarcity: The allure of limited resources. The book is a captivating blend of real-world examples, studies, and insights that shed light on why we say "yes" to certain requests. Whether you're in marketing, sales, or simply intrigued by human behavior, "Influence" is a must-read that equips you with a deeper understanding of the forces shaping our choices. 🚀💪 #BookReview #PsychologyOfPersuasion #mustreadbooks

“The Art of Influence” by Chris Widener is a must read for anyone who wants to build influence. In the book, Chris Widener talks about four golden rules of Influence through an engaging story of Marcus, a fresh MBA grad and billionaire businessman Bobby Gold. Through an interactive conversation between the two characters, author highlights how its equally important to learn both the science and the art of business which is how to influence others. “Buyers and followers are decision makers. Influence is a gift that they give to us. They let us influence them. They make that decision.” Read my review on the book here -> #business, #influence, #persuasion
