It was an honor to present at the prestigious 6th International Business Research and Industrial Conference (@IBRIC 2024) hosted by #Kenyatta_University's School of Business, Economics and Tourism. My speech, titled "Innovative Corporate Governance for Sustainable Hospitality and Tourism Industry," explored improved governance systems for sustainable tourism businesses. A key novelty was proposing an Islamic governance model that adheres to Islamic principles. Overall, I'm grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this valuable platform for knowledge sharing. How #frugal #innovation can boost the #competitiveness of #Morroco’s #hotel industry ? Read this #academic paper by Imane Ben Yahya
🌟 Exciting News! Last September, I had the privilege of being in Prague at the 7th International Conference on Applied Research in Management, Business, and Economics to present my inaugural research article. The paper, titled "Frugal innovation as a lever of competitiveness in the Moroccan hotel industry”, has now been published in the conference proceedings. Participating in this conference marked a significant milestone in my academic journey, providing a platform to present and discuss my research findings within a respected academic community. 🎓📚 This paper, a part of my ongoing research for my PhD, examines the role of frugal innovation in enhancing competitiveness within the Moroccan hotel industry amidst the challenges of the post-COVID era. 📝✨ My research on frugal innovation in the Moroccan context was significantly influenced by an insightful webinar titled “L’innovation frugale pour l'Afrique de demain” hosted by Maroc Impact. This webinar featured the esteemed thought leader Navi Radjou நவி ராஜூ as a guest speaker and provided invaluable insights into innovative approaches for the future of Africa. 💡 This experience has further solidified my dedication to academic research, and I'm eager to continue this pursuit in my future endeavors. 🌟🔍 The paper is available via this link: https://lnkd.in/eRF2JS32 I hope you find it insightful! #frugal #innovation #travelandtourism #tourismrecovery #hospitalityindustry #hotelmanagement #phdjourney

🛫 The tourism industry is in a continuous recovery phase. Now it's time to discuss where we go from here... 📈 Yesterday fDi Intelligence published its annual joint report with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) showing that tourism FDI projects jumped by 23% last year, but remain well below 2019 pre-pandemic levels. You can download the full report here: https://lnkd.in/ekBMFeQC 🗣 Can't wait to be in Macao next week for 10th edition of the Global Tourism Economic Forum (#GTEF). I'll have the pleasure of moderating the event's first panel about redefining tourism investments with experts from across the world (see below). Alternative sources of capital such as private equity and venture capital will be critical to boost sustainability, innovation and resilience in the tourism industry. 📺 You can register to participate in the event online at the following link: https://lnkd.in/ewb-CQ-4 🚨 All updates from the event will be posted on the GTEF website: https://lnkd.in/ecFmz5AM #tourism #travel #industry #investment #fdi #economicdevelopment #econdev #sustainability #sustainabledevelopment #event #panel

At a Saturday conference at Chiang Mai University, business leaders pushed Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin to develop a second airport and increase its hours. They wanted the second airport to be named Lanna International Airport and Chiang Mai International Airport to be open 24/7 to boost tourism. It shuts at midnight. Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT), which manages Chiang Mai International Airport, is building a new international passenger terminal and renovating the domestic passenger terminal in phase 1. The airport will handle 18 million passengers per year after this 10 million baht extension. Chiang Mai Airport averages 150 flights each day, 15 per hour. After Phase 1, the airport can handle 30 planes per hour. AOT is also studying the viability of building a second airport in Lamphun's Ban Thi area near Chiang Mai. It will cost 50–60 billion baht and encompass 2,767.6 acres. The feasibility study may not be considered until Chiang Mai International Airport's expansion is complete. Srettha listed the topics discussed with Chiang Mai entrepreneurs after the discussion. 1. Expanding Chiang Mai Airport hours to accommodate more international flights and tourists. 2. Second Chiang Mai airport construction. 3. Advocating for "12 months, 12 events" to boost tourism year-round. 4. Supporting international conferences and exhibitions and promoting Chiang Mai's culture to attract tourists. 5. Government policy based on soft power. 6. Helping talented northern chefs become world-class. 7. Addressing the Northern PM2.5 fine dust crisis immediately. 8. Give startups additional state support, finance, and worldwide market access. #propertyvaluation #feasibilitystudy #buildinginspection #smartcontract #propertyfinance #propertyinsurance

"The revenue inflows from tourism activities are a major driver of economic growth, especially for the developing countries. The tourist inflow to the host country mobilizes foreign wealth through several transmission channels such as attracting foreign investments, currency earnings, tax-related revenues and generation of employment opportunities (Alam & Paramati, 2016). Thus, it is imperative for the developing countries to promote and maintain conducive tourism environment to attract visitors from all around the world." Tiwari, A.K., Das, D. and Dutta, A. (2019) ‘Geopolitical risk, economic policy uncertainty and tourist arrivals: Evidence from a developing country’, Tourism Management, 75, pp. 323–327. doi:10.1016/j.tourman.2019.06.002.
