#COP28 is the time and place to accelerate climate action and strengthen cooperation. Together with our partners, we want to lead with facts, science, and concrete actions, with an emphasis on doing our part to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain and phase out fossil fuels. It is great that our IKEA focus topics for COP28 will be: 1. Phasing out fossil fuels, 2. Addressing the root causes of air pollution and 3. Halting deforestation and scaling up restoration of degraded land. In the framework of our IKEA Removing and Storing Carbon (RSC) agenda, the current Vietnam RSC Project is being well implemented in Coastal North region of Vietnam (TT Hue province) to address issues for better carbon removal and storage in plantation forests, soils and IKEA’s products, forest landscape restoration, landscape resilience and biodiversity and local livelihood improvement. With similar approach and objective, we are now formulating Concept Ideas for developing a new Regional Removing and Storing Project on Agroforestry models for better economic returns and carbon sequestration in Viet Nam and relevant Countries in SEA and SA. 

At the end of the COP28 UN Climate Conference in Dubai, European Union negotiators succeeded, with partners from around the world, to keep alive the possibility of delivering on the commitment in the Paris Agreement to limit global average temperature increase to 1.5 Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Having the COP28 in the center where emissions are generated has been genial. The organizers took it seriously! "achieving, at a global scale, a tripling of renewable energy capacity and doubling energy efficiency improvements by 2030. The list also includes accelerating efforts towards the phase-down of unabated coal power, phasing out inefficient fossil fuel subsidies, and other measures that drive the transition away from fossil fuels in energy systems, in a just, orderly and equitable manner, with developed countries continuing to take the lead."
