It gets overstimulating, tiring, and all-consuming. At the same time, children need a break from routine and that’s where play comes in. As adults, sometimes we need rest after play. Sometimes play is rest. 🌱 This week, let’s figure out how rest revolves around play. If you need a break from play, what are some things you could do that provide you ease? (I love taking naps.) If rest is play, how could you play in restful ways?📍 This might feel like a doozy, but taking a moment to untangle how play shows up in your life is helpful. Often parents feel their children’s play dates are not worth the effort because they are so challenging. Here are a few tips to make play dates successful: -Keep them short (1-1.5 hours at most) -No more than 1 friend at a time -Don’t go to a park – too big, the kids won’t really play together -Have one activity that both children are sure to like (bake cookies, go get ice cream, etc.) -If the play date is at your house, before the friend arrives, have your child put away anything they cannot easily share -You could at structure to the play date by having your child pick the first activity, the friend picks the second activity and the last thing is something you pick that you know they will both like (making cookies, etc.)
