In a landmark case, ILGA World and ILGA Asia filed a joint amicus curiae brief urging the NHIS to extend state benefits to same-sex partners. The Supreme Court will soon rule on whether a same-sex partner is entitled to public health insurance coverage as their partner’s dependent, as is the case for heterosexual couples. “Denying health insurance coverage to same-sex couples solely based on who they are violates the principles of equality and non-discrimination,” ILGA World and ILGA Asia stated.
