Lots of the top Pharma players have made #netzero commitments on the scope 1 & 2 and have also provided interim targets for scope 3. In some cases the reduction percentage is quite substantial (e.g. 50% Scope 3 reduction by Novartis by 2030) This implies that all suppliers will have to step up and start mapping their carbon footprint because it is just a matter of time before these Pharma companies also actively consider carbon footprint during procurement, and also start differentiating suppliers based on this. Reportedly, profits of listed pharmaceutical companies in Bangladesh shrank in the last fiscal year of 2022-23, the first decline in at least five years, as the cost of production went up. 👉 As per an analysis of The Daily Star, 10 of the 15 listed drug makers registered lower earnings in FY23, reducing the industry's collective profits by 5.16 percent year-on-year to Tk 3,160 crore. 👉 Reportedly, the financial reports of the 15 drug makers show their collective profits grew by 14 percent and 22 percent in FY22 and FY21, respectively. The growth was 15 percent, 21 percent and 10 percent in the three years prior.
