It has been a week since the team returned from Innovation Zero and we are still buzzing with excitement. To further promote our position as a leader in the sustainable electronics industry, our very own Sustainable Electronics Ambassador, Emma Armstrong, took to the stage. Emma shared insights into how the existing culture of disposability and material waste that helps drive the climate crisis can evolve into a reuse and recycling circular system – increasing profits for the supply chain whilst cutting costs for the consumer. It was then our privilege to showcase our ReUSE® and ReCYCLE™ technologies in action, comprised of closed-loop processes that allow manufacturers to remove components from existing electronics at the end of their useful life and reuse them as we protect the planet and future generations. Electronic waste is growing exponentially year on year since 2010, 62 billion kg of ewaste was generated in 2022. Increased usage, lack of repair choices, brief product lifespans, rising digitalisation, and insufficient ewaste disposal systems have surpassed the rise in formal and environmentally sound collection and recycling. This means only 22.3% is formally documented as recycled. It means globally we are only generating USD 28 Billion worth of secondary raw materials out of a maximum of USD 91 Billion.
