Here's the 2023 quota attainment for two AEs on my team. 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯 𝗔𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: AE 1: 221% AE 2: 143% I spoke with both of them 1:1. My goal was to understand (truly) how they're getting such great results. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: Although they sell differently, they have 1 thing in common: Investing in themselves. AE 1: Hired a sales coach. AE 2: Bought Chris Orlob's course. 𝗠𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: Never stop investing in yourself, learning new things and taking ownership of your own development. Is competition inter-company or group a good thing? Does having a competition between the sales force, different divisions, branches, etc each month with a prize for the best one improve performance? Some years ago when I was running a building product distribution branch we had a monthly competition and a leaderboard for a top prize for the year. It was a thing of pride and status rather than having the cash prize each month, which as a frequent winner we saved up and we all had great evenings out together. In this way, everyone in the branch shared the success. When rewarding the best performance of a salesperson each month does that encourage competition at the cost of teamwork?

🤝Sales Teamwork vs. Competition: Finding the Winning Balance 🏆 Before starting in sales, I kept on hearing ‘Oh, Sales, that’s so competitive’, which would then start the debate: Sales Teamwork and Sales Competition. Do we thrive best as a team or as individual competitors? Here's my take: 🤝Teamwork Strengthens Us: From what I see when sales teams collaborate effectively, with collective knowledge, skills, and experience they achieve amazing results. 🏅Competition Fuels Growth: Healthy competition pushes people to strive for excellence, to set higher standards, and to continuously improve. 🎤In sales, we're all in this together (my HSM fangirling coming out). THE LONG GAME OR THE SHORT GAME. A few weeks ago I was caught in between two result oriented people who had exciting opinions on whether a person should be focused on short term results rather than long term results. The short game as I like to call it is focusing on getting results in the shortest possible time. for instance, if you are into sales, this ideology postulates that one should focus on businesses that manifest results in the shortest possible time, which may not be so rewarding but accrue to the much larger target. On the other hand, the Long game postulates that one should focus on more rewarding successes that take time to yield. so taking the field of sales for instance, one should focus on businesses that might be complex and time consuming but also very very rewarding in the long run. Well I may not know which one you belong to. but just like I told my two friends, just make sure you are winning whether it's short term or long term just make sure you are winning!!
