Last week, Benoit Ferran also gave a lecture at the Royal Aeronautical Society - Paris Branch that is a British and the world's only professional membership association dedicated to the aerospace, aviation industry and to its global community. The topic of the lecture was one very important for Ascendance: Hybridization unlocking Advanced Air Mobility Why so❔ 1️⃣ Our DNA from the origin: to develop hybridization technologies as the best path toward a more sustainable (and someday decarbonized) aviation with SAF compatibility and transition 2️⃣ Hybridization will unlock advanced air mobility to reach market viability, especially on payload, range, speed and turn-around time expectations 3️⃣ Full battery architectures are and will stay too limited in performance and restricted to very light aviation or demonstrators 4️⃣ Hybridization gives us a starting market for helicopter replacement with our new generation aircraft We were happy our vision about hybridization in aviation was very well received by the key-players and experts who attended. Hybrid electric is the long-haul flight to cleaner connections❕ #aam #futureofaviation #sustainability Royal Aeronautical Society David Cook Howard R. Another milestone has been hit... 🙌 We are thrilled to have received funding for the BALIS 2.0 Project from the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. The funding was awarded by the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport of Germany, Volker Wissing at Stuttgart Airport. The BALIS 2.0 Project, led by H2FLY and supported by the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and Diehl Aviation, aims to develop and test a high-performance fuel cell system with an output of 350 kW that is designed to be used in commercial aircraft applications. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Josef Kallo, co-founder & CEO at H2FLY says "The federal funding for the BALIS 2.0 project underlines the increasing importance of hydrogen fuel cell systems as a propulsion solution for aviation. The insights gained from this project will further support the development of powertrain systems in the megawatt-class range and significantly contribute to the transition towards sustainable and emission-free aviation.” Initial ground tests of the fuel cell system are planned for 2025. We're looking forward to the project progressing. #SustainableAviation #HydrogenFuel #Aviation

🛫Honored to open the 3rd National Aerospace Conference of #Germany, dedicated to innovation and decarbonisation. At Airbus, we're committed to pushing the boundaries of aerospace #technology whenever the need arises. Our teams tirelessly work to make our aircraft more fuel efficient, optimise the way they fly, and transition to new energies like Sustainable Aviation Fuels and Hydrogen. ✈️ However, there is no magic solution here. It's a challenge that demands collective effort. 🤝 We're proud to collaborate with over 25,000 partners worldwide, and events like this one are essential to build connections with new partners who share our vision of pioneering sustainable aerospace. I am very honored to have been part of the discussion with Robert Habeck, Carsten Spohr , Lars Wagner, Jörg Schuler, Jürgen Kerner and Christoph Bals. Let's unite, innovate, and together soar to new heights! BDLI Bundesverband der Deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. #Airbus #Innovation #Sustainability #Partnerships #Aviation #Aerospace

Cutting against the perceived wisdom that battery-powered aircraft are confined to the sub-regional space - Elysian Aircraft claims through new research that a 90-seat all-electric (save for a turbogenerator as a reserve) airliner is entirely feasible. It sees the possibility for service entry of the 430nm (800km)-range, 76t MTOW aircraft by 2033, if all goes to plan. The E9X concept uses by 35t of batteries located in the wing box to power eight direct-drive electric motors. It features a 42m wingspan - wider than that of the Airbus A320 - but with folding tips like the Boeing 777X to meet airport gate requirements. Elsyian estimates it will take $5-8 billion to bring the E9X into production. As a side note I am retrospectively disappointed in my failure to use 'Elysian fields new research...' in the headline. Must do better.
