🌟 Reflecting on a transformative weekend at the MPI Tennessee Chapter Mid-Year Board Retreat Placemakr 🌟 Stepping into each board meeting or retreat always brings a mix of excitement and nerves. As someone deeply passionate about MPI, I thrive in these spaces as an idea person. Yet, the shadow of past insecurities sometimes looms large, whispering doubts about my adequacy in fulfilling my role. But amidst the anxiety, I remind myself: I am a volunteer, giving my best. This time was different. As VP of Finance in a pivotal transition year for MPI, including a fiscal year extension and a new prospectus, I found myself at the center stage. I poured my heart into crafting a revamped prospectus, tirelessly seeking ways to better serve our sponsors. Presenting it was nerve-wracking; every question felt like a challenge to defend my hard work. However, amidst the scrutiny, a beautiful realization dawned upon me. Each question, each input, was a testament to the community's care and commitment. We weren't just making decisions; we were engaging in a collective effort to elevate MPI. The aftermath of the presentation held the most precious moment. A call from someone I've clashed with, expressing genuine appreciation for my work, reminded me of the power of connection and understanding. Leadership isn't just about delivering flawless presentations; it's about fostering a community where everyone feels seen and valued. This weekend reaffirmed the essence of MPI: leadership, community, inspiration, networking, and above all, lifting each other up. Here's to many more transformative moments ahead! #MPI #Leadership #Community #Transformation Michael Farrell Cayce Brasel Turbeville Melanie Blanche, CMP Roger Hampton Beth McDaniels, CMP Carolyn Johnson T. Today, I had the privilege of attending KML's Top 30 Under 30 Summit. Thank you The Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto and Sam for giving me and my colleagues this opportunity. And congratulations to Aaron for the well-deserved award! We're so proud of you! 🎉 I arrived already expecting to learn, but the panel sessions far exceeded my expectations. I'm excited to share my key takeaways: 📝"Diversity" extends beyond race, age, and gender orientation to include learning abilities. Most people who work in FOH are experiential learners, retaining information better through hands-on experience. Training should be tailored accordingly, rather than relying solely on PowerPoint slides or written materials. 📝Encourage every associate to collaborate and contribute to changes; give them a sense of purpose. 📝When hiring, shift the focus from "Will they stay?" to "How do we retain them?"; what we should be looking for, especially in the service industry, is Authenticity. 📝Going Green— This shouldn't mean taking away amenities or putting the burden on the guests in any way, it means offering an alternative. 📝Pre-Shifts— the hallmark of service excellence; setting the mood for associates and keeping them informed impacts guest's experiences more than you think.
So excited to be at the KML Top 30 - Under - 30 Summit with members of The Westin Harbour Castle, celebrating our award winner Aaron Foster! Congratulations to all 30 Next Gen Trailblazers and to the various panel members for sharing their invaluable insights into a variety of timely topics!

I am very proud to have had the opportunity during Steinel America’s 40th Anniversary celebration to award Steinel America’s STAMP Award for Blameless Problem Solving to Thurston Selby! In today's fast-paced business world, fostering a culture of blameless problem solving is paramount for innovation and growth. Blameless problem solving: 1️⃣ Promotes Innovation: Encouraging team members to speak up without fear of blame fosters creativity and innovative solutions. 2️⃣ Enhances Learning: When we focus on solving problems rather than assigning blame, we create opportunities for continuous learning and improvement. 3️⃣ Boosts Morale: A blame-free environment promotes trust, boosts morale, and encourages team members to take calculated risks. In my 30-year career, I have never met anyone who exemplifies Blameless Problem Solving better than Thurston. Whether it is Tech support troubleshooting or working on innovative new products, Thurston always creates a safe environment for positive collaboration. Thurston patiently listens to all parties and finds innovative win-win solutions. It is with great pleasure that I say Thank You Thurston for your contributions to Steinel America’s success in its first 40 years! #SteinelAmerica #BlamelessProblemSolving #Innovation #WorkplaceCulture #LeadershipDevelopment
