Every first Monday of October, we celebrate #ChildHealthDay, a day to remind us that every child deserves to receive the care & live in conditions to be the healthiest he or she can be. From the food they eat to the treatment they receive at the hospital. Dr. Vera Cordeiro's work started 30 years ago, precisely because she saw that as a Pediatrician, she was unable to help many of her patients - primarily the ones living in vulnerable situations - Why? Despite following all the protocols, she realized that providing the right healthcare services was not enough. What weighed in were the lack of medication & income, detrimental housing conditions & improper nutrition, lack of knowledge and social support. After many years of tireless support of her patients' families, and the involvement of top specialists & volunteers alike, the Brazil Child Health NGO and its Family Action Plan were born - the award-winning methodology to address the Social Determinants of Health. With this ground-breaking work that addresses family education, income generation capacity, housing conditions, citizenship, and different aspects of health, the Instituto Dara - Dara Institute (the new name NGO acquired) is now seeing 90% decrease in rates in hospitalization in program beneficiaries. On this day, consider supporting the work of this unique organization by accessing our 501c3 here (https://lnkd.in/duMmWQVC) to reach more beneficiaries and guarantee that every child is receiving the care and living conditions they deserve for being as healthy as they can be. #health #healthychildren #children #childrenrights #childhealth #HealthyLiving #accesstohealth #SocialDeterminantsofHealth

Pause has published a report on families experiencing repeat removals of children into care in England. The report highlights the issue of repeat removals and calls on the Government to improve support to ensure families do not experience the removal of a child more than once. Recommendations include; improve data collection on the rates of recurrent Care Proceedings, provide coordinated and accessible support for families through Family Help and provide evidence based support for parents who no longer have children in their care. https://lnkd.in/e9MxtuK3

📣 📣📣 Local authorities accross the Uk are overspending by millions each year within children social care, grappling with high-cost placements and a lack of suitable options for children in care. This raises the crucial question: How can we continue to let this cycle persist, and more importantly, how can we change it? At Families First, we believe that care proceedings should be a time for growth, evolution, and unwavering support for families in need. Our innovative approach aims to revolutionise the current system by offering dynamic changes to care proceedings. Our service provides tailored, day to day support and structured programmes to families involved in care proceedings, all while conducting community-based assessments. The inception of Families First stemmed from the realisation that social workers were restricted from providing practical support to parents during care proceedings, hindering the possibility of successful family reunifications and leading to long-term costly impacts on local authorities. In light of recent challenges faced by local authorities, the need for more effective strategies to manage costs and ensure better outcomes for children and families has never been more evident. At Families First, we are committed to supporting local authorities, Cafcass, and legal professionals in navigating care proceedings with increased efficiency and effectiveness. By bridging the gap in proceedings, we strive to reduce costs for local authorities, conduct comprehensive assessments of parents, and offer intensive practical support to help families stay together whenever possible. Join us in our mission to transform care proceedings and create a brighter future for children and families in need. #FamiliesFirst #CareProceedings #SupportingFamilies

Universal Children's Day: A Day to Promote Health Care for All Children Universal Children's Day, is a day to celebrate the rights of all children and to advocate for their well-being. This year's theme is "For every child, every right," and it is a reminder that all children deserve access to quality health care, regardless of their background or circumstances. Health care is essential for children's growth and development. It helps to prevent diseases, ensure that children receive the immunizations they need, and treat any health problems that may arise. Access to quality health care can also help to improve children's academic performance and reduce their risk of developing chronic diseases later in life. Unfortunately, millions of children around the world do not have access to the health care they need. This is due to a variety of factors, including poverty, lack of access to health facilities, and discrimination. On Universal Children's Day, we can all play a role in promoting health care for all children. Here are a few things you can do: Learn about the challenges that children face in accessing health care. The more you know, the better equipped you will be to advocate for change. Support organizations that are working to improve health care for children. There are many organizations working to provide children with the care they need, both domestically and internationally. You can support their work by donating your time, money, or skills. Speak out about the importance of health care for children. Talk to your friends, family, and elected officials about the need to invest in health care for all children. By taking these steps, we can help to ensure that all children have access to the health care they need to thrive.
