Open to the public at WMU...How to Start an Automotive Start-up: Lessons Learned from Being in Business Three Months. https://lnkd.in/d9qw9A2c. Join us on WMU's Parkview Campus for a presentation with Dr. Zachary D. Asher and Bryan Hagenbarth of Revision Autonomy. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 4 p.m. Parkview Room, D-132 Floyd Hall (College of Engineering) Have you ever worked at a company and been shocked to find that the products they sell are boring or useless? Or maybe the company suffers from bad management with poor promotion procedures? How on earth could you ever be promoted to CEO at this company to make some meaningful change? A solution: start your own company, design your own products, and create your own company policies. In this seminar, we will share some of our personal motivations for starting a company, including lessons learned from the trials and tribulations (so far) of starting a business. And of course, we will be happy to answer any questions from attendees. Dr. Zach Asher, associate professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, is the director of the WMU Energy Efficient and Autonomous Vehicles Lab and co-founder and business & technology director at Revision Autonomy. Bryan Hagenbarth is a Medallion Scholar and student in the WMU's Haworth College of Business, majoring in supply chain management. He is a co-founder and business executive director at Revision Autonomy. Website: https://lnkd.in/d6PzYCGD. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (#AI), connected and autonomous vehicles (#CAV), and electrification motivate the need for a new #EE architecture that can handle the complexity of these systems. SDVs are key enablers for these technologies in the automotive industry. However, #SDVs come with challenges including legacy #software adaptation and high-performance #computer (HPC) testing. Join our Manager of Connected & Automated Mobility, Hamzeh Alzubi, Ph.D., on April 30th to discuss how FEV can help with overcoming these two specific challenges by utilizing MathWorks Model-Based Design tools and FEV’s Gateway. Hear about two use cases that highlight the effectiveness of FEV’s approach towards a rapid realization of SDV software development and testing. Title: The Gen AI Impact on Automotive Performance Engineering As a Performance Engineer myself working in the Automotive Industry for a large OEM, this is a topic close to heart. The automotive industry is on the brink of a revolutionary shift with the emergence of Generative AI (Gen AI). Here are my thoughts at how Gen AI will reshape automotive performance engineering: 1. Data-Driven Design: Gen AI enables personalized vehicle design based on vast data analysis, optimizing everything from suspension to aerodynamics for individual preferences. This data-centric approach will revolutionize automotive performance engineering by enabling engineers to design vehicles tailored to the specific needs and preferences of consumers. 2. Predictive Maintenance: Consumer is key and post sale services are as important as concept delevopment. AI-powered systems anticipate maintenance needs, minimizing downtime and maximizing vehicle reliability. 3. Autonomous Optimization: The integration of AI into autonomous vehicles will fundamentally transform automotive performance engineering. Gen AI algorithms will continuously learn from real-world driving scenarios, fine-tuning vehicle dynamics and control systems to optimize safety and efficiency. From adaptive cruise control to autonomous emergency braking, AI-driven features will redefine the capabilities of next-generation vehicles, setting new standards for performance and reliability. 4. Virtual Prototyping: Advanced simulation tools driven by AI accelerate design iterations, reducing time-to-market and costs. Lesser time aka more profits. 5. Human-Machine Collaboration: While AI will play a central role in shaping the future of automotive performance engineering, the importance of human expertise cannot be overstated. Gen AI will foster greater collaboration between human engineers and intelligent machines, leveraging the unique strengths of both to push the boundaries of innovation. By combining human ingenuity with AI-driven insights, automotive performance engineering will reach new heights of excellence. In summary, Gen AI will revolutionize automotive performance engineering, ushering in a new era of customized, efficient, and safe vehicles. This wave is coming sooner than ever and rather than fear it, let’s embrace this and make our modes of transportation better than ever. #GenAI #automotiveengineering #automotive #electrification #ArtificialIntelligence #AI #EV #BEV
