This might look like a lot of baked beans.
It is not.
I run my local foodbank's The Trussell Trust website, and went down for a meeting with the manager and social media manager today.
This time last year, Lou was renting a garage to store baked beans in. We were telling people to stop buying us baked beans. We were worried about them going out of date before clients could eat them. Baked beans are the number one item that everyone buys for the foodbank.
Today, this photo represents the total number of cans of baked beans available to every foodbank client in Stretford and surrounding areas. This is all of our beans. All of them.
Why? Because foodbank use has gone up 46% in the last year.
Please donate to us - https://lnkd.in/ejDHKzkJ - or to your local foodbank now. Cash will buy us more beans than you can (we get special rates) but please, even one extra tin of fruit or veg at the checkout will make an incredible difference to desperate local families near you.
You might think this is something that happens to other people. You're wrong. You don't know who's using a foodbank. Many of our clients are full time workers nowadays, and we deliver in unmarked vans. We're probably delivering to someone on your street.
Ask yourself: how many pay days away from a foodbank are you? What if you lost your partner, or something happened to your house/flat?
What about your friends or loved ones? How are they doing for food?
Think about it for a moment, and then please donate to a foodbank.
I take fun seriously🛝
