Wishes don’t come true by luck or chance. They come true because of WishMakers – especially our incredible volunteers! As long as children face devastating critical illnesses, they’ll be counting on our volunteer WishMakers to create the hope and strength they need to fight. Every year, people around the country use #DyingMattersAwarenessWeek as a moment to encourage all communities to get talking💬 Honest, timely conversations about death and dying are essential to good end of life care. Yet all too often barriers, including lack of confidence, taboos around discussing death, and confusion about who should be having these conversations mean patients, carers and families may not understand what is happening, or get all the information and support they need. We’re encouraging Teesside to talk about having those end-of-life conversations. Because the way we talk about dying, matters💜 Visit teessidehospice.org to see how you can get involved in Dying Matters Week. #GetTalking #TeamTeesside #HospiceCare #HospiceSupport

🚨 Reminder: Check the Backseat! 🚨 As temperatures rise, it's crucial to remember the importance of checking the backseat before you exit your vehicle. Since 1998, a heartbreaking 972 pediatric deaths have occurred due to heatstroke after being left in hot cars. Texas holds the tragic record with 134 of these deaths. 🌞 Why It Matters: • Children are more vulnerable to heatstroke because their bodies heat up 3-5 times faster than adults. • Even a short time in a hot car can be fatal. • The temperature inside a car can increase by 20 degrees in just 10 minutes, even with a window cracked. Share this message and help save lives. Let's work together to ensure no child is left behind in a hot car. Stay vigilant, stay safe. 🌟 #CheckTheBackseat #HeatstrokePrevention #ChildSafety #SummerSafety #CAS

Talking About Dying Matters Please do share for Dying Matters
Dying Matters Awareness Week (6-12 May 2024), which is an opportunity for people to talk about death, dying and grief. This campaign is run by Hospice UK and is used to encourage people to communicate in whichever way works for them. It aims to create an open culture where we are comfortable to have conversations about death. The theme this year is ‘The way we talk about dying matters’, focusing on the language we use and conversations we have around death and dying, specifically between healthcare professionals and patients, their carers and families. In support of this, together with some of our partners, we have produced a short video featuring professionals from a range of roles in palliative and end of life care, to get their views on why the way we talk about dying matters and how to open conversations about death and dying. Please take the time to watch the video at Insert video link. https://lnkd.in/ew6q7tgX
