Cooling & Sealing Air System in Gas Turbines The cooling and sealing air system utilizes air from the gas turbine axial flow compressor, extracted from several points for sealing the turbine bearings and cooling turbine internal parts. **Bearing Sealing Air**: An opening in the compressor case at the 5th stage stator blade allows the air to flow in the passages to the pipe connections that supplies sealing and cooling for the turbine bearings. **Compressor Bleed Extraction**: Compressor bleed valve located at 11th stage remains fully open to reduce the air flow load on compressor, hence reducing starting torque and provide pulsation protector and smooth loading as the turbine speed rises from startup condition, then the bleed valve closed after 95% of turbine speed and in normal operation. **Compressor Discharge Air**: Compressor discharge air cools turbine buckets, wheel spaces and several turbine rotor parts, as the temperature in these areas are very high as they receive directly the hot combustion gases from the combustion system. Gas Turbine Blow-off system. As its name suggests, a Gas Turbine Blow-off system uses a network of ducts and valves to blow off compressed air from selected compressor stages, during Gas Turbine start-up and shutdown. When this system is operating, compressed air is extracted , in the case below as exemple, from the sixth and tenth compressor stages and is discharged into the Turbine exhaust system to prevent compressor surge and blades stalling, because the Gas Turbine rotors are designed to rotate at the rate speed. Because the Gas Turbine with its compressor must pass through the speed range below the permissible range on start-up and shutdown, it is necessary to blow off an amount of the compressed air from the selected compressor locations, depending on Turbine manufactors, without travel through the combustors and the Turbine sections. A compressor surge phenomenon is a form of aerodynamic instability in axial and centrifugal flow compressors. A Blow-off system purpose is to help Gas Turbine pass through its critical speeds for easy and risk-free. After the Gas Turbine exceed its critical speeds, where the surging rotor is no longer a concern the Blow-off system is shut down.

Pictured, you see the beginning stages of the build-up of the rotor core, which after stacking, will be welded and made ready for winding. The ultimate result will be a robust generator capable of delivering 10,400 kVA, 8,320 kW, 6.6 KV 50 Hz at 1,500 RPM. Question is that what should be the reason of low vacuum in type # 02?? May be due to barometric leg length difference????

First fire of a gas turbine generally means that you have already proven that the fuel stop valve(s) will be closed by the turbine control system when a trip condition has been detected. By every means possible (some turbine controls have two independent means of electrically closing the fuel stop valves, as well as hydraulic means). So, you first need to be extremely confident that the fuel stop valves will close when a trip condition is detected by the turbine control system.
