Real commitment to reconciliation and inclusion is demonstrated through consistent, meaningful actions that drive positive change. It’s about integrating these values into everyday practices and decisions, ensuring that the respect and recognition of First Nations communities are woven into the fabric of our organisations and society. Leadership is about more than just words—it’s about taking concrete steps to support better education, employment, housing, and health outcomes for First Nations people. It’s about listening, learning, and actively working towards a more inclusive and equitable future. As our RAP consultant, Dixie Crawford from Nganya, wisely says, "As a leader, it is not what you say during NAIDOC Week but what you do next week that tells us all who you really are." We want to encourage our colleagues, customers and partners to really think about these words to champion reconciliation, change, and celebrate First Nations communities every day. At Bunzl, we are committed to these principles and strive to embody them in all that we do. Join us in making a lasting impact and supporting First Nations communities beyond NAIDOC Week. #NAIDOCWeek #Reconciliation #FirstNations #Leadership #Inclusion #PositiveChange #Bunzl #Nganya #EverydayCommitment #BetterFuture

Every year, "International Day of the World’s Indigenous People" is observed on August 9 to raise awareness and preserve their needs. On this World Day of Indigenous People, let's celebrate the rich cultures and traditions of Indigenous communities around the world. Dnet celebrates the power and potential of Indigenous youth as agents of change for self-determination. To align with this, this year's theme, "Indigenous Youth as Agents of Change for Self-Determination," is an important reminder that young people have a critical role to play in shaping the future of Indigenous communities and in promoting social justice. We must prioritize the voices and experiences of Indigenous people in all of our work. As we celebrate the resilience and diversity of Indigenous people, let's also commit to breaking down barriers to communication and understanding and promoting equity and inclusion for all communities. Together, we can build a more just and equitable world for all.

Another successful NAIDOC week has come to end, this year’s theme centred around the resilience of First Nations people, emphasising on our enduring connection to the land, culture, and community. These words "Keep the Fire Burning, Blak, Loud & Proud” highlight the importance of cultural pride, resilience, and community solidarity. The importance of ongoing support and commitment to First Nations people, rather than just acknowledging them for a specific period like one week out of the year, encouraging consistent support and initiatives with First Nations consultation that ignite positive change are crucial. It's about maintaining authentic efforts and not just temporary gestures.

This year’s NAIDOC Week theme “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud, and Proud,” embodies the resilience and wisdom of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. It’s a powerful reminder to cherish and amplify Indigenous knowledge. Skills and education are key to social inclusion and empowering people to thrive. In our rapidly changing world, school education is no longer enough. With the new targets for participation in post-secondary education, we have an opportunity to address the systemic challenges and inequitable access—be it to education, training, or other recognised forms of capability and skill development. To ensure that every individual has access to lifelong learning opportunities is crucial for fostering an inclusive society.
