🏙️ Over 815 million urban dwellers in low-income areas face deadly heat waves without affordable cooling solutions.
Integrating nature-based solutions, such as green and blue infrastructure, can significantly reduce urban temperatures, creating cooler and more comfortable cities.
Learn how heat adaptive capacity strategies are expanding the ‘playbook’ for sustainable urban cooling in cities in this article: https://lnkd.in/d9Zh6htV#ThisIsCool#ClimateAction

⚡ “Energy efficiency, from an African point of view, is a cultural problem, so it means we ought to engage the community to understand what they are doing and what needs to be done,” said Jesse David.
“You cannot tell someone ‘There is energy efficiency’ if they don’t have access. Energy efficiency and access must be interlinked so that, as we push for access, we also incorporate efficiency within that structure,” added Jesse.
🎤 Watch as Jesse discusses the importance of collaboration and advocacy as enablers of an #EnergyEfficientLife.

The World Bank announced the launch of an ambitious new regional initiative aimed at significantly accelerating energy efficiency to ensure secure, affordable, and clean energy supply across Europe and Central Asia.
The 10-year "Scaling Up Energy Efficiency in Europe and Central Asia Program" (E3 Program) is projected to save over 63 terawatt hours (TWh) of energy over the lifetime of its investments—equivalent to the annual electricity production of Switzerland—and reduce CO2 emissions by 18.7 million metric tons.

🇬🇭 ⚡ Energy efficiency measures present a vital opportunity to address #climatechange and mitigate the environmental impact of rising energy needs.
#Ghana's growing population and rising temperatures have caused a surge in energy consumption, particularly for cooling. This increased demand strains the power supply and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions.
In the first episode of SEforALL’s #EnergyTalks podcast, Michael Abrokwaa, SEforALL Energy Efficiency Country Coordinator for Ghana, and Hubert Zan, Assistant Manager at the Ghana Energy Commission, discuss Ghana's energy challenges and opportunities.
They delve into minimum energy performance standards, appliance labelling, cultural and economic considerations, and regulations.
🎙️ Available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts from 16 July 2024.

📺 [WATCH] How do standardization and conformity assessments contribute to doubling energy efficiency? ⚖️ ✅
💡 “The question is not so much, ‘Can we increase, or can we double the energy efficiency?’ I think the question should be, ‘How can we be as efficient as possible?’“ said Jo Cops, President of the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). “Even if we do more than double or triple, I think we have to go for it [be energy-efficient],” added Jo.
The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) promotes energy efficiency globally by developing international standards and conformity assessment programs. These standards help manufacturers meet energy standards, promote international trade in efficient appliances, and reduce energy use across sectors while supporting efficient and sustainable energy systems through smart energy systems research. Thus, they contribute directly to increasing energy access and a just energy transition.
In addition, the IEC Global Impact Fund provides grants for projects that address specific global environmental, governance, and societal challenges by applying IEC International Standards and Conformity Assessment Systems.
