Open Source is the future of AI That’s a claim Mark Zuckerberg made yesterday as Meta released the most powerful open source LLM. It performs like the best closed source models while claiming inference costs 50% lower than GPT-4o At Moveworks we have a long history of fine tuning and distilling open source models for our applications. In fact, for our copilot we are evaluating models like fine tuned Llama2 for function calling. In addition to this, we use models like FlanT5, MPnet, and others across our stack. Fine tuning and distilling allows us to improve the quality, latency, and costs of these models. So we are very excited about the latest release from Meta. It will enable us to build a better service for our customers over time and give us more control to improve it in many dimensions. https://lnkd.in/gEacDuMd Not only has Meta closed the gap against closed source models, it is allowing companies to use data generated by Llama3 to train smaller purpose built models. These derivative models will further allow enterprises to embed LLMs in their application stack across a wide variety of scenarios and use cases. Lastly, this model is widely available across multiple infrastructure providers. No matter what cloud you use, you will have access to the most powerful open source LLM. But wait there is more. Meta is already training Llama4 - which means zuck has no intention of stopping. It’s an exciting day for all builders who want to embed intelligence in their applications.
