New blog out today! 📝 Every year at the holidays, my sweet husband Scott gets me one of two things: a piece of jewelry or a piece of camping gear (we haven’t been camping in over a decade, but it never hurts to be prepared!). And, as much as I really appreciate his thoughtfulness, what I REALLY want for Christmas is true help. I want him to pick out gifts for his family members. I want him to schedule our annual trip to Zoo Lights. I want him to think about how to make the gifts evens-stevens for our kids (and the way we spend our time with respective in-laws fair, too). That’s what this week’s blog is all about: 1. Valuing ourselves enough to decide we won’t over-function alone for the sake of holiday sparkle. 2. Speaking up with compassionate assertiveness when we feel that mental load weighing us down. 3. 🐣 Easter Break 🐣 I love the Easter break, its a chance for us as a family to stop, take a well deserved break and make the most of those 4 days. Taking a break to reset is really important for everyone, being able to fully switch off and enjoy your R&R time. You do not want to burn yourself out! We spent a lot of time outdoors, my boys love being out of the house, riding bikes, climbing trees, making dens and just generally burning off that abundance of chocolate egg energy! 🍫 If you have got to the end of the break and feel like you need a change, reach out and lets have a chat. It is 12 days to the end of the year 2023. I would like to share with you in the next 12 days tips on building strong family bonds. Day 1: Establish Family Traditions "Create unique family traditions for the holidays that involve all family members, fostering a sense of belonging and joy." During the holidays, establishing unique family traditions cultivates an atmosphere of warmth and togetherness. These traditions can range from making a special dish together, engaging in a family game night, or crafting homemade decorations. Happy Easter egg hunting with family and friends with this fun schematic of Waste-To-Energy (WTE): A technology used the world over to use trash and make steam and electricity, recycle metals and use the residue to make roads. When you throw trash, if it’s not managed by #WTE it, its headed to a landfill. In a landfill, it rots or sits there forever making methane and polluting the atmosphere with methane and toxic gases and groundwater with metals for at least 100 years. Using #WTE, within an hour the trash has -generated energy to power a home, -separated metal to be recycled, -made residue that can be used to build roads (coming soon at Covanta Oahu). And while it’s fun to think there are tiny people running around making a #WTE plant run, this is a superbly advanced engineered tech designed and operated by smart people I get to work with.
