#NHI, #TheAlliaceofNursingHomesIreland. #LeahMarsh this is an excellent idea. it's like getting the #CEO, #MedicalConsutant and the #CateringManager to eat a patients or residents meal, always enlightening results.
Leah Marsh, Managing Director of Aurem Care, recently took the unique step of staying overnight at one of her own care homes to gain first-hand experience of the facilities and care provided. She spent two nights at the newly refurbished Hailsham House care home in Hailsham. Leah’s decision to stay at the care home was sparked by her frequent stays in various hotels during her travels. “It is probably seven or eight years since I have spent a night in a care home, and even then it would have been working a night shift or carrying out a night check,” she reflected. “With spending so many nights away from home staying in hotels of varying quality and having recently refurbished a unit at Hailsham House, I had the epiphany to experience what it would be like to actually sleep in a care home for a few nights.” Read all about her stay on our blog page: https://lnkd.in/ev7-BXQ7 #caremanagement #residentialcare #carehomes

Contracts manager & FWM forest operations within Coed y Brenin for CNC / NRW. Entrepreneur with own business in spare time.
Jan 5-7th we had two professionals (plus son and dog) from the healthcare industry stay, both work or have worked in the adapted living environment within hospitals and elsewhere. Abi said her and her husband were chatting and trying to figure out what I did for a job, so I told her ‘forestry’, and she was slightly taken aback as they both thought I must be a consultant and give advice to others who are adapting their accommodation / building. The hut from their experience was so well adapted, everything had been thought of for those with limited mobility and independent wheelchair users, but equally feels homely. It was a great confidence boost in all the hard work I’d put into researching and designing the hut. I really couldn’t have done it without the hours of talking to many different wheelchair users and seeing what they were missing in a holiday accommodation. So a big thank you to them. I used building regs, Doc-M as my minimum guideline and the visit Britain accessible document M3 section (recommended) as my target. Our newest upgrade is to change the 3ft single adjustable bed, to a profiling bed with full length side rails, which can slide down out of the way - from our preferred supplier HWB Mobility 💚💙 #accessibility #accessibilitymatters #independentliving #disabilityinclusion #disabilityawareness #adaptation #thinkoutsidethebox #researchanddevelopment

Celebrate National Take the Stairs Day with Coffman’s 150th Anniversary on July 16th, 2024. As we celebrate 150 years at Coffman, we’d love for our valued customers to join us in observing the first ever National Take the Stairs Day on July 16th. After all, a company that has stayed healthy for 150 years knows a thing or two about the benefits of taking the stairs! Let’s commemorate this special milestone together and highlight the craftsmanship that unites us. Why Celebrate? National Take the Stairs Day promotes choosing stairs over elevators and escalators, highlighting both health and environmental benefits. At Coffman, we believe in the importance of these values. By taking the stairs, we can all improve our cardiovascular health, reduce obesity risks, and combat sedentary lifestyles. Environmentally, this simple choice helps conserve energy and reduce carbon footprints, contributing to a greener planet. How to Observe: In honor of our anniversary, Coffman is encouraging everyone to participate in the "Stair Challenge." Take the stairs at work, home, or in public places and share your experiences on social media using the hashtag #TakeTheStairsChallenge. By filming and posting your stair-climbing feats, you can inspire others to join the movement. Challenge your colleagues, friends, and family to do the same, creating a ripple effect that promotes health and sustainability. #TakeTheStairsChallenge

What is a Changing Places toilet? That's one of the most common questions we get asked by venues looking to enhance accessibility. They may have been around for over a decade, but there are still large parts of the UK where little is known about the importance of Changing Places toilets. To help you access the information you need about Changing Places, we've compiled a handy guide to tell you what Changing Places are, what they include, where they are required, and the options/support available to install more. Weekend Readiness for Assisted Living Facilities 🏡 Happy Friday, everyone! 🎉 As we approach the weekend, it's crucial to remember that this period is often the busiest for assisted living facilities (ALFs). It's a prime opportunity for us to demonstrate the exceptional care and attention we provide to our residents. **Welcoming Visitors with a Smile** 😊: Weekends typically bring more visitors. It's essential that our staff are prepared to greet each visitor warmly. A friendly smile and a helpful attitude can set the tone for a positive visit. **Building Relationships** ❤️: These visits are more than just meetings; they're opportunities to strengthen relationships. They reassure families that they've made the right choice in entrusting us with their loved ones' care. Every interaction matters and contributes to reinforcing this trust. **Avoiding Negative Experiences** ⚠️: On the flip side, weekends can also be challenging. If not managed well, families might leave with negative impressions. This can lead to feelings of guilt, frustration, and even formal complaints. In worst-case scenarios, it could result in a family deciding to move their loved one out of our facility. **Preparation is Key** 🗝️: To ensure a smooth weekend, it’s vital to have all our 'ducks in a row'. This might include: - Extra staff on hand to manage the influx of visitors 🧑⚕️. - Organizing special activities that residents and their families can enjoy together 🎲. - Ensuring the facility is clean, welcoming, and ready for increased foot traffic 🧹. **Going the Extra Mile** 🌟: Let's brainstorm ways to make these visits extra special. Could we offer refreshments ☕, organize performances 🎭, or set up photo opportunities 📸 for families? Small gestures can leave a lasting positive impact. **A Round of Applause** 👏: Lastly, a big shout-out to all our dedicated staff. Your hard work and commitment don’t go unnoticed. You’re the reason our residents and their families feel at home. Let’s keep up the great work and make this weekend a memorable one for everyone! --- Wishing everyone a successful and fulfilling weekend. Let's continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve! 🌈💪
