NOPEC was honored to travel to Washington D.C. last week to sponsor and attend the Greater Cleveland Partnership's Annual Empowering Local Leadership Conference! This event allowed us to connect with leaders from many of our member communities as well as from FEMA, EPA, HUD, and several members of the Ohio Congress to discuss how we can empower and advocate for our communities. Thank you GCP for bringing us all together!

Today I learnt an interesting fact that Leadership is not about Power, it is about Influence. As leaders positive influence is key to drive high performance teams and build future fit leaders. It eliminates fear from teams and instills drive to deliver with integrity. Such a leader encourages employees to be better leaders in their own territories, and enable them to take ownership of business strategy and be accountable for their actions without Fear. Now the below table just sumed up how an Effective Leadership should look like, Serve and Positively Influence Teams/Employees. Right or wrong, these two inspired me to be a better leader in my own right.
I came across the below on Instagram and saved it because it spoke to me. Last week at our AfroCentric Leadership Conference our CEO touched on being a Servant Leader. That…screamed at me!

This was one of the most transformative and empowering leadership training sessions I've ever participated in. Here are the key lessons I learned: - We should extend an invitation to EVERYONE to enter a brave space, allowing each individual to determine whether that brave space aligns with their concept of a safe space. - Coaching is a significant commonality shared between managers and leaders. The privilege to coach must be earned. - The 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership require internal and external work. #LeadDsm #leadershipdevelopment #adultmentor #passionandpurpose
We are ready for the year! Last week, Lead DSM volunteers came together for a training on the 5 Practices of Exemplary Leadership. Thank you to Adrianne Towe for facilitating!
