Many people think that roller skating rinks are "dead". They're not, they just need to evolve into today's entertainment world and expectations - similar to how bowling and other long time entertainment options have evolved! We've done several roller rink projects this year and want to share this great example. #rollerskating #entertainment #familyentertainmentcenter #branding #masterplanning #greatdesign

I find it important to share the good work being done in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion across sport -- Kadari Taylor- Watson is doing amazing work with U.S. Figure Skating. She recently led a panel called, Breaking the Ice: Exploring Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion in Figure Skating. It is a fascinating and important conversation, including founders of diverse ice-skating programs, coaches, choreographers, parents, athletes, and officials. These important champions of DEI shared their unique experiences and insights on advancing DEI within the sport. You can check out the conversation in the video >>>>>> https://lnkd.in/eCt_yDFe

On March 23, American figure skater Ilia Malininn became the Men's World Figure Skating Champion. His free-skate received the highest score ever recorded in the history of figure skating. When he was asked what he was focusing on to perform at this level, Ilia's answer was deceptively simple: "I rely on my muscle memory." You and I may not be world-class athletes, but we each have our own muscle memory. That's our body's memory of how we show up at our finest, on any given day. Cultivate that memory. Step into it, on a great day and a not-so-great day. Trust your muscle memory to help you navigate the perhaps not-so-easy moments in life. Here is my latest 2-minutes Essentials video: KNOW YOUR MUSCLE MEMORY.

Here are 5 questions hockey players should ask if they want to get faster: https://lnkd.in/e9ZvjMmW 1️⃣ Can I get into deep skating positions? Mobility work for the ankles, and hips is essential in improving your ability to get into a deeper position and maintain that depth while going through linear and transitional skating patterns. 2️⃣ Can I hold deep skating positions? If a player lacks the muscular endurance to stay in deep positions, they’ll stand up taller and lose speed and power when they fatigue. 3️⃣ Can I push hard out of deep positions? The ability to generate force is foundational to maximizing power with each stride. Producing strength in pushing patterns will have the best transfer to skating. 4️⃣ Can I “explode” out of deep positions? Working from positions at skating depth, jump and sprint variations, particularly those that emphasize horizontal and lateral patterns, can help improve your ability to generate power with each stride. 5️⃣ Can I create separation? Training that emphasizes maximal speed, continuous power output, and the deceleration speed of the adductor muscles will help improve a player’s ability to create separation in open ice. Feel free to post any comments/questions below. If you found this helpful, please share/re-post it so others can benefit. P.S. Want to take the guess work out of your speed development?
