Despite digitalization and technological advancements, paper remains widely used in both private and industrial sectors. Traditional paper production methods can have significant environmental impacts. However, integrating oxygen into the processes can make a real difference in three stages of paper production: ✔ Bleaching and Delignification: Using oxygen instead of chlorine or chlorine dioxide reduces environmental impact and improves safety. Oxygen delignification removes 40-50% of residual lignin in non-bleached pulp, decreasing the need for harsh chemicals and lowering costs. ✔ Recycling (De-inking): Oxygen improves the flotation process in de-inking, leading to better separation of ink from paper fibers and higher quality recycled paper. ✔ Wastewater Treatment: Oxygen is vital for the biological treatment of wastewater in the pulp and paper industry, by breaking down organic matter and enhancing water quality before discharge.
