I completed an incredible 14 years at PepsiCo today. These years went by in a breeze, and I'm super proud of what I have achieved. I am sharing a few lessons I learned in the last 20 years of my career journey. > Focus and consistency can make your idea come alive. > Stay focused and prioritize what's important and what's not. > You will not have all the answers and solutions to all the problems but you will find the right people who can give you the solutions or guide you so don't hesitate to ask for help. > Don't waste too much time on what others are doing rather build something which reflects your values and has your essence because no one can take that away from any founder. > When things go wrong or go slow, stay calm. Know that it's happening for a reason and you can only take the right decision and turn things around when you are in a calm state of mind. > Stay true to your purpose, Keep doing your work with 100% honesty and focus and no one can stop you from making a positive dent in the universe. > Celebrate small victories and aim for bigger ones. > Don't react but reflect.

As I conclude my rewarding two-year assignment at PepsiCo, I reflect on the remarkable journey that commenced amid the challenges of the COVID pandemic and a move to the Netherlands with my family. Despite uncertainties, our determination led to a successful settlement, laying the foundation for future endeavours. Following a brief career break, I realized a long-awaited dream of establishing my own company, InFinHorizons, in October 2021. Subsequently, RGP presented an engaging opportunity with PepsiCo to support the Tropicana Brands Group (TBG), a joint venture with PIA investments in the juice business. Little did I know that this engagement would extend to two years, making me an integral part of a dedicated and special team that consistently delivered golden standards. My sincere thanks to the PepsiCo Europe Central Finance Reporting team, project team and Europe TBG team for providing a rich and rewarding experience. Congratulations to everyone involved in establishing TBG and efforts to bring it to independence. I am delighted to share that my journey continues with TBG in January 2024. I want to highlight key attributes that contributed to my journey’s success, both personally and professionally—diversity, adaptability to change, nurturing strong relationships, and dynamic collaborative teamwork. Diversity: Having lived in diverse countries and collaborated with colleagues worldwide, fostering an understanding of various cultures, languages, foods, and lifestyles. Technological advancements in collaborative tools and social networking have facilitated continued virtual interactions, further enhancing this experience. Remember the person on the other side is also a person. Building Strong Relationships: Start by identifying your needs and the types of relationships to build. Authenticity is essential; build trust through genuineness and reliability, consistently following through on commitments. Be respectful, open-minded and willing to learn from others, considering new ideas and perspectives. Embracing Change: Recognize change as essential for growth, adapt, and actively drive change for success. Teamwork: Success is achieved through clear common goals and collaborative efforts, with team members trusting each other for collective accomplishments. Don't forget to celebrate successes and learn from mistakes.

Job rejections don’t feel as personal when your career progresses. At the beginning of your career every: - “No” - “We’re going in a different direction” - “We decided not to move forward with your application” Feels personal. As you climb the ladder, the competition gets better and better. If I’m hiring a Chief Commercial Officer for a snack brand, I would poach: - SVP of Sales at Kraft Heinz - VP of Sales at Mars - Chief Commercial Officer at poppi Imagine how competitive that interview process is. You won’t win them all. When you’re being considered amongst the top names in your industry… You’ll be grateful just for the opportunity.

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have interviewed a number of people that have used our services over the years to get them to tell their stories about their work and about their experiences with Premier Personnel. Adam Ash is feeling really good about his future these days. He started working for Pepsi almost exactly a year ago and feels like he is in the job that he was always meant to be. He is a quality control person making sure that all product that goes out has no damage or anything missing. He talks about how Pepsi has embraced him, how it's a big company but feels small, and that they notice the value that he brings, especially on the days when he is away. Premier played an important role in helping Adam reach this point, helping with making the connection to Pepsi, assisting with the interview process and initial training, and then helping him through some initial hiccups at the beginning of his time there. He now feels that this is the job that will take him to the end of his career. Adam has been working with Premier for quite a while now and he received assistance in a few jobs prior to this. Probably the most important experience he had was working 8 years at PPG doing pane glass manufacturing. From this job, he learned a lot of skills that he feels he has been able to bring to his new role. Adam appreciates the support he has had through the years from Premier and says that he would recommend PPC to other people looking to get their careers going. He really appreciates the opportunities he has had and appreciates that he is well-accepted at Pepsi. Often, over the course of my career, I have been given some really challenging roles that I was sure I would fail at. Typically, these were roles where others had failed before me. I’d often get frustrated because I felt like I was being set up for failure. But if I hadn’t been given those roles, I never would have had the chance to - Work on the milk’s favorite cookie campaign for the Oreo brand  - Launch the Pieces launch at The Hershey Company (that arguably began a change in candy aisle packaging) - Rethink marketing planning at Ahold - Evolve Guest Relations at Cracker Barrel These are some of the coolest projects, most amazing teams and proudest achievements I have had the chance to work on over the past 20+ years. At some point, I figured out that I actually like tough challenges ... especially finding ways to fix long standing problems that other people have written off. I also learned that what seem like impossible problems often just need someone to have a “there has to be a better way” attitude plus a little persistence. Which was how I ended up spending most of the last two years working with an amazing team at Cracker Barrel to address the longstanding challenge of making data more accessible for end-users. We started out with a tiny team and grew analytics into a full blown function focused on democratizing data access and getting the right data to the right people in order to make the right decisions. We made a ton of progress, overcoming the stumbling blocks that had hindered progress in the past. If I could give one piece of career advice to younger Jeff, it would be this: Embrace the challenges.
