Harbor Commissioner Bonnie Lowenthal has been elected President of the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners, the five-person board that oversees the Port of Long Beach. The board also selected Frank Colonna as Vice President and Steven Neal as Secretary. The Commission’s new officers will begin their terms on Aug. 5. https://ow.ly/Oa5q50SIxAz

U.S. Senator Alex Padilla joined senior leadership from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the California Air Resources Board and the South Coast Air Quality Management District to announce a nearly $500 million Climate Pollution Reduction grant to AQMD. The ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles are grant partners with AQMD. The funding will go towards zero-emissions projects at both ports. The funding is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s latest efforts to tackle the climate crisis and improve air quality for Southern California residents. https://ow.ly/VkyX50SIpYV

Port of Long Beach marine terminals are open and operating as this global technology outage unfolds, with cargo operations commencing normally this morning. Overnight, four terminals experienced computer issues but were able to resolve the problems with minimal disruptions.
