What a privilege to be involved in the design and establishment of CAE's first Gulfstream-dedicated business aviation training center in Savannah, Georgia! Situated close to the Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. headquarters, this center represents the fifth CAE business aviation training facility in the United States. The ribbon-cutting for the CAE Savannah training center offered a fully immersive experience, and saw the presence of the President of CAE, the President of Gulfstream Aerospace, and dignitaries from both Canada and the US. The facility is designed to house up to four full-flight simulators, with one currently in operation and another expected to begin training sessions soon. RMF collaborated with McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture to provide MEP building engineering. Congratulations to CAE and everyone involved in this cutting-edge project that will train #Gulfstream pilots and maintenance technicians for generations to come! This case study describes how TLG Aerospace utilized Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to enhance our aircraft certification process by significantly reducing the associated costs. This was achieved by leveraging computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and elastic computing resources to build precise aerodynamic databases and perform simulations more efficiently. This approach has allowed us to minimize the reliance on physical testing, leading to quicker, cost-effective certifications. To learn more about how TLG Aerospace can help with your engineering and/or certification needs, please message me directly. #computationalfluiddynamics #cfd #engineeringexcellence
In addition to other great content, including Siemen's VP of Aerospace & Defense (A&D) Todd Tuthill's recommended ebooks and a link to a webinar involving Northrop Grumman (posted in comments), Siemen's A&D Industry newsletter this week highlighted its case study involving TLG in which Siemen's solutions helped us reduce aircraft certification costs. "Large databases can be run in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ today at a fraction of the cost and schedule of legacy methods and wind tunnel testing. That was not possible only a decade ago." - Andrew McComas, Chief Aerodynamicist, TLG Aerospace Check out the full case study here: https://lnkd.in/gyZ7dvtA Subscribe to Siemen's marketing content here: https://lnkd.in/gjWW7uwg #AerospaceNews #CFD #Siemens #AircraftCertification #CaseStudy

BIM is becoming more and more common in the aerospace industry, modernizing the design and production of aircraft, both civilian and military. This technology is already used by world leaders such as Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin (yes, the manufacturer of the long-awaited F-16). BIM is used for ⬇️ ▪️ Effective design. 3D models and visualization provide a better understanding of structures, saving time and money. ▪️ Safety and reliability. Predicts and prevents malfunctions at an early stage. ▪️ Coordinated cooperation. Ensures effective collaboration on the project through better communication and coordination. The introduction of BIM significantly improves the aviation industry, making it more efficient, high-quality, safe, and competitive. Advances in technology are making BIM a game changer in aviation, promising a future with predictive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and seamless collaboration on a global scale. #bim #bimmodeling #construction #build #airplane #3Dmodeling #building

This weekend is full of dates to celebrate in the aerospace industry! Sunday is World Helicopter Day, raising awareness of the contributions that helicopters make to our society and celebrating the diverse range of people that design, fly and support them. Saturday marks the celebration in the USA of National Aviation Day, the date selected to coincide with Orville Wright’s birthday. In 1903, the Wright brothers planned and constructed the world’s first successful motorised airplane. We didn’t start as early as 1903, but we do have over fifty years’ experience in the aerospace industry. We’ve established a strong presence in civil and defence markets supplying fixed-wing and rotorcraft systems with a vast range of products and services from structures and systems design to the design, manufacture and finish of complex flying detailed parts, integrated structural components and sub-assemblies, all covering long-term strategic support through to rapid-response AOG requirements. We’re also experts in the supply of development parts and equipment, assembly tooling jigs, fixtures, operational tooling, specialist lifting, handling and transportation equipment, and test rig and test equipment. #engineering #aerospace #defence #nationalaviationday #worldhelicopterday

Fellow of The Royal Aeronautical Society FRAeS . Freeman city of London. livery "The Honorable Air pilots company".
Aviation in general and the air transport industry now under econimic pressure world-wide; pilots training is losing it direction and flight safety is taking the back seat. Most fligh training school are producing systems operators not pilots that can handle and understand basic flight manovers and are able to recognise unusual attitudes and carry on recovery actions . Classic examples Air France 447 and the 2 max Boeing 737 crashes. We collectively must address these fundamental issues ASAP.
"The flight deck is a sociotechnical system, and it is time the industry does a better job of training the socio- aspect of safety" - 'In the latest issue of AEROSPACE - August 2023' #avgeek https://ow.ly/hXs850PnoqH
