Diversity is essential for fostering innovation
🌈We had a fantastic time taking part in the Auckland Pride Parade alongside our friends at the Diversity Agenda, Engineering New Zealand, and many other industry allies! It was a powerful celebration of diversity, inclusion, and the joy of being true to yourself. Diversity is essential for fostering innovation and building strong communities so seeing our team proudly represent our values with enthusiasm was truly inspiring. Thank you to the organisers, volunteers and everyone who made the parade unforgettable. We’re proud to be creating a world where everyone feels empowered to be their authentic selves

Hi everyone. I'd like to share with all of you some information about Living Corporate , a great resource for organizations that plan to amplify and connect with Black and Brown communities. Their approach to media campaigns, both internal and external , is very unique in this space. I encourage you to take a look if this is potentially a part of your strategy (or if is not, how they could be). Check out the case studies if you get a chance--really interesting. https://lnkd.in/gkpBbuWi

Ever heard of St. Andrew's Day? It's celebrated by Scottish people and their descendants around the world on November 30. It isn't an official holiday here in Canada, but there are plenty of celebrations involving eating, drinking and dancing! It may sound odd, but tradition is an important part of change. Too often, we are so focused on the future that we neglect to remember and honour the traditions and practices that can help support us during times of change. For me, remembering and celebrating St. Andrew's Day helps me connect with my ancestors and heritage. If you're leading change on a project, remember to ask your stakeholders questions about team traditions or festivities. Incorporating well-known practices can help ground and support a team that's going through change. If you're planning change in your personal or professional life, consider what traditions are important to you. Traditions don't have to be big, or well-known to make an impact. Do you have traditions or practices that help ground you during times of change? Let me know in the comments! #ChangeWithoutPain #ChangeManagement #Leadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #HappyStAndrewsDay2023

As we embrace the vibrant hues of Holi, the festival teaches us invaluable lessons in leadership and personal and professional development. This festival, celebrated across diverse cultures, symbolizes the victory of good over evil, the importance of love and forgiveness, and the joy of spring's arrival. It encourages us to break down barriers, fostering inclusivity and unity, much like a leader who builds strong, cohesive teams. In the realm of personal development, Holi inspires us to let go of past grievances, akin to the practice of burning Holika. It's a reminder that forgiveness and moving forward are essential for growth. Professionally, this translates into resolving conflicts and nurturing positive workplace relationships, essential for teamwork and collaboration. The playful exchange of colors represents diversity and the acceptance of different perspectives, crucial for innovation and creativity in any field. It teaches us to appreciate and leverage diverse skill sets and viewpoints, driving collective success. Moreover, Holi's communal celebrations highlight the significance of building strong connections, underscoring the importance of networking and community in achieving personal and professional goals. As we celebrate Holi, let's imbibe these lessons into our leadership style and personal development journey, striving for inclusivity, forgiveness, diversity, and strong community bonds. Here's to a colorful and successful year ahead, filled with the spirit of Holi!

The District 4 aaf embodies what it means to celebrate as they perform. The training we delivered was received extremely well. Comments ranged from "best training ever" to "where can we learn more?". We custom tailored this event to provide crucial neuroscience information and why we as humans are naturally change-adverse. The conversation continued to organizational topics like communication styles, SMART goals, and RASCI. If your organization is needing a common way to operate, or if work is feeling disjointed, let us rebuild a frictionless way forward. Visit us at www.doti.us https://lnkd.in/gd_y3Ncy

Amplifying the strengths versus weaknesses In corporate we normally classify a lot of things in colour. For example if an action item is pending it’s likely to be marked in yellow. If it’s over due in red. And if it’s completed it is marked in green. This makes it easier to see where we are doing well and where we need improvement. Some one said in a meeting recently that the greens we don’t need action plans for. I disagree . These are the areas that need to be amplified more than the reds- we need to keep reinforcing what we are doing well. There is enough noise out there - let’s embrace peaceful music. Amplifying where we are doing well goes a long way to creating a more conducive culture.

A lot of us grew up being chastised for the marks we missed instead of being praised for what we got correct. Even if one gets 80%, the focus would be on the missing 20%. This feedback loop replays itself in adulthood where we focus on our weaknesses and downplay our strengths. It takes quite a bit of unlearning to operate to one's strengths. Learn2Lead, this is a great reminder that encourages leaders to seek flow and operate to their natural abilities instead of constantly trying to re-wire their brains. 🙏
