Retractable signs. ✅ Seating for the booth. ✅ Sustainable swag. ❓🤔 For many marketers, investing in branded swag is commonplace. With the continued boom of in-person events (once more), promotional items that are available to attendees can boost event engagement. But with branded swag ending up in landfills every day, you'll want to think practical and recyclable. Gone are stress balls and tchotchke! As Kramer once said, I spent a month there one night. And he may have been referring to El Paso, TX but it feels appropriate to apply that epic quote to Vegas last week. Why? Because the largest recycled materials conference descended upon the entertainment capital of the world April 15 through the 18th. From receptions, to networking, to educational sessions, to the giant expo hall, to multiple live podcasts and culminating with a mega announcement of a rebrand … the 4 days 3 nights was perfectly timed with Taylor Swift’s new Fortnight song because it felt like a fortnight… in a good way. With almost 7000 people attending ISRI2024 - aka ISRI - the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries - it was incredible to see the range of participants. From traditional attendees like recycling equipment to metal, paper and plastic recycling facilities to brokerage and trading houses to aluminum, copper and steel mills to manufacturers and oems. To newer attendees like technology and software firms bringing AI and process improvements to our industry. What was the biggest topic of the week? It wasn’t the typical where will scrap prices go? Excuse me - recycled materials go? Don’t worry that was talked about … it was what will ISRI rebrand itself? For an industry that trades information - the rebrand was under lock and key before the big reveal on the last day which created quite a bit of buzz around the big day. So what did ISRI rebrand itself as? … and unless you haven’t logged into that B2B app lately … the new name of ISRI is officially ReMA - the Recycled Materials Association! Be sure to rest up and join us for ReMA2025 in San Diego next year May 12-15! #ISRIHistoryMade #RecycledMaterials #ReMALaunch Recycled Media Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) Robin Wiener Brett Ekart Colin Kelly Jay Robinovitz Sandy Brooks Kimberly Scott Todd Kauffman Jr. Alex Vazquez John Sacco Christian Von Holten Jessica Driggers Judy Ferraro

“Sustainable practices should be incorporated into events as standard.” It’s a statement we’ve been hearing more than ever in recent years, and it’s one I couldn’t agree more with. As agencies, both rethinking our own practices and looking to our supply chain, by partnering with those who share our values, is essential to ensuring sustainability does indeed become standard practice across the sector. It’s why it's great to see venues such as BMA House leading the way in this regard – they’ve not only recently launched an event carbon calculator tool in partnership with Planet Mark, it is complimentary. It also got me thinking about the likes of Ford Motor Company, who have previously shared the patent for their inflatable safety belt system, as well as Volvo Cars, who did the same with their three-point seat belt. These brands recognised that peoples’ safety should be prioritised above profit only, and I believe we event profs should strive to do the same, by openly sharing our sustainability related learnings, best practices, and in the case of BMA House, providing the tools to help us achieve our sector-wide environmental goals. Why? Because surely, the planet should similarly be prioritised above solely making a profit. Who agrees? #Sledge #sustainability #noplanetb #netzeroevents #eventprofs #eventindustry

A Deeper Dive into Why Your Company Should Exhibit at a Tradeshow this year: In my previous post, I highlighted the numerous benefits of exhibiting at trade shows in 2024. Today, I want to delve deeper into why this form of marketing is essential for businesses and how it specifically ties into the incredible opportunity presented by the Recycling Expo which runs at London ExCel on the 15th & 16th October. *Visibility and Brand Exposure: Exhibiting at trade shows provides unparalleled visibility for your brand. It's a chance to stand out in a crowded market and showcase your products or services to a highly targeted audience. At the Recycling Expo, your company can leverage this exposure to position itself as a leader in sustainable practices and environmental stewardship. *Market Research and Insights: Trade shows offer valuable insights into market trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences. By engaging directly with attendees, you gain firsthand knowledge that can inform your business strategies and product development efforts. At the Recycling Expo, you'll gain unique insights into the latest advancements in recycling technology, emerging regulatory trends, and consumer behavior, empowering your company to stay ahead of the curve. *Lead Generation and Sales Opportunities: Exhibiting at trade shows is a powerful lead generation tool. It allows you to capture qualified leads, engage prospects in meaningful conversations, and ultimately drive sales. The Recycling Expo presents a prime opportunity to showcase your eco-friendly solutions and convert leads into loyal customers who are passionate about sustainability. *Thought Leadership and Education: Finally, trade shows provide a platform for thought leadership and educational outreach. Through speaking engagements, workshops, and panel discussions, you can position your company as an industry expert and share valuable insights with attendees. At the Recycling Expo, you can contribute to the dialogue surrounding environmental conservation, circular economy principles, and innovative recycling solution. In conclusion, exhibiting at trade shows offers a multitude of benefits for companies looking to expand their reach, establish credibility, and drive growth.
