Today marks the last day for many of our summer interns - the largest group in the firm's history. After thanking them for their help on a wide variety of projects, we asked them to share some takeaways from the past couple months:
"I think the most important thing I have learned this summer is, nothing will ever be more informative and clarifying than being out in the field on the site... Many of the sites I went to I was also assigned to complete the plan renderings for, and seeing the space in real life always cleared up every question I had about the drawings. Seeing a 2D drawing or even a 3D computer model still fails to match seeing and experiencing the same space in person."
"I think my most significant takeaway from this Summer has been how important it is to be in an amicable, social, and uplifting environment... Everyone has been so welcoming and kind and attentive to my needs."
"Creating successful design solutions requires perspectives from a variety of disciplines, and VMA provided me with the opportunity to learn from many of these interactions over the past three months. On-site surveys, design documentation, construction site visits, consultant communication, and client meetings were just a few of the instances where I saw collaboration in action."
