Exciting news! All A62 Delegates have passed with flying colours and will be commissioning KH Plant Training to carry out their Level 4 NVQ's - Controlling Lifting Operations. This will help them go from Red card to Blue card after gaining 6-12 months of site and role experience. Congratulations to all! #constructiontraining #liftingoperations #careerdevelopment

In an emergency situation, it is essential to remain calm and allow your training to rescue the situation!
Bravo pilots 👏 Staying calm and relying on training during incidents is crucial for pilots as it helps maintain clear thinking, effective communication, and decisive action under pressure. This composure ensures the proper execution of emergency procedures, maximizes passenger safety, and minimizes the risk of further complications.

As you all know there has been an increase in the number of “Maintenance-related incidents” in the recent past - these include wing tip hits during towing, Engine Cowls coming off etc. One of the important safety aspects of Aircraft Maintenance is the sharing of information related to such incidents and coming up with methods of mitigation. It is very important for the on-field personnel to be informed and help them apply these mitigation measures - Prevention is better than cure!! I would urge Training Organisations - Part 147 associated with MROs - Part 145 to bring out a monthly newsletter to highlight incidents or near misses within and outside their Companies. When the Maintenance Personnel go on the aircraft, these incidents should come to their mind when they inspect a particular area. The inspection will become more purposeful and help prevent such occurrences. The idea is to not let a walk around inspection become just a walk around !!!

Let's understand the mitigation measures using the 5 Ms framework: 1. People (Training and Procedures): Provide training for ground crews and maintenance staff on safe towing practices and proper maintenance procedures. Create SOPs for maintenance tasks, focusing on correct clearance measurements and efficient communication methods to reduce human errors. 2. Machines (Towing Equipment and Technology): Upgrade to modern towing equipment that includes safety features like proximity sensors, automatic braking systems, and clear visibility aids. Explore the use of towbarless tugs for improved maneuverability and control during towing operations. 3. Methods ( Inspection & Maintenance Checks): Regularly inspect your aircraft, paying close attention to important areas like the engine cowls, fasteners, and attachment points. Create a maintenance plan that includes checks before and after flights, as well as routine inspections during scheduled maintenance periods. 4. Material (Quality Assurance for Aircraft Materials): Establish a program for quality assurance to oversee maintenance tasks and make sure they meet regulatory requirements and standard operating procedures. Conduct audits to assess performance and find ways to improve. Offer continuous training and feedback to uphold top-notch maintenance standards. 5. Management (Communication & Reporting): Encouraging open communication within teams and setting up clear reporting procedures for safety issues, near-misses, and incidents is crucial for effective management. It's important to have a formal system in place to report all necessary details, investigate the root causes, and take corrective actions to prevent future occurrences. By focusing on the 5 Ms—Manpower, Machinery, Methods, Materials, and Management—you can probably reduce maintenance-related incidents at airports and cultivate a culture of safety and excellence in maintenance operations.

Per Operation Lifesaver, EVERY 3 Hours, someone in the USA 🇺🇸 is hit by a Train.. There's a TON of DOT Regulations addressing this, but EVERYONE knows Railroad Crossings are a No Brainer. Years ago in a Former DOT FMCSA Investigator career, I manned a conference Booth next to Railroad Safety Advocates representing "Operation Lifesaver" who presented Data how- "It’s still a startling fact that about every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train." Consider using the Training and Presentation sources of Operation Lifesaver in your Driver Training Program. Visit Operation Lifesaver at- https://oli.org/

Going beyond training to help your Part 145 or Part CAMO organisation to integrate staff competencies into your business
Have you got the ‘Dirty Dozen’ on your mind? With EASA making them a key focus this year, I started thinking about how a Part 145 organisation should control these error traps. The ‘Dirty Dozen’ are complacency, fatigue, knowledge, pressure, teamwork, communication, norms, resources, assertiveness, distraction, stress, and awareness. Part 145 organisations are already required to have these controls in place, which should act as barriers to at least some of the ‘Dirty Dozen’: - Staff Training - Competency Assessments - Production Planning - Shift Handovers - Manpower plan - Independent Compliance Monitoring - Safety Promotion What additional barriers do you think Part 145 organisations need to manage their ‘Dirty Dozen’ hazards? #aviation #sms #safety #part145 #quality #hazards #risks #dirtydozen
