We could not do what we do so successfully without our amazing women engineers - all of them providing solutions to support the UK and Ireland decarbonise further our electricity system.  Our recent innovations in sourcing talent has made it more approachable a career for women.  We will not continue to innovate and sustainably grow without the most diverse workforce, of which women engineers will continue to play such a pivotal role 

At Siemens, we understand the pivotal role that diversity plays in driving innovation and progress. So, I would like to join on the celebration of #INWED2024 in the remarkable contributions of our very own, Carmen Rodríguez Chinesta, Alba Peña and Marta Mendez-Bonito, to the world of technology and sustainability here at Siemens Spain. Their innovative spirit and unwavering commitment to excellence have not only transformed our projects but have also inspired countless others in the field. #EnhancedByEngineering

All women forging careers in engineering are inspirational, when you realise that here in the UK women make up about 16% of the total. To follow your passion and work in engineering is to be applauded. Jo Douglas-Harris always inspired me with her passion to get women involved and recognized. I see you are continuing to do this Jo 👍🏻. In terms of women of yesteryear my love of the moon 🌕 makes Mary Blaggs achievements notable. She was born in 1858 and in the early 1900s she became interested in astronomy, attending lectures and teaching herself mathematics. Her first paper, published in the British Astronomical Association Journal in 1906, investigated the scintillation (or twinkling) of ⭐️s. She then went on to standardise how the moon’s craters were mapped and named, carefully compiling data of 4,789 different lunar features. She published it in 1913 and so much of her thinking will have had engineering at its core. Maybe not so impressive today what with satellites etc but back then, and as a woman. It blows my mind. #INWED2024

Throughout Siemens Spain, we proudly celebrate the outstanding achievements of women engineers. Today, I would like to spotlight the remarkable work of all our female engineers who are amplifying the potential in our Company. Embracing the spirit of #INWED2024, we honor those #EnhancedByEngineering as we propel technology and sustainability forward!

A few years ago, I was asked for advice on how to respond when someone comments that a degree in engineering is ambitious for a woman. My recommendation was to say, "I have ambition." And it’s true – our engineers at Siemens bring ambition and problem-solving every day to shape a better future. #INWED24

Engineering and Technology are the crucial pillars for Siemens as a leader in the field of Auotmation, Electrification and Digitalisation. This #IWED2024 we need to ensure that women see a future and a career in the space of engineering and technology. We need to totally remove the gender specific bias that some of these jobs demonstrate. Women are capable to do the same jobs that men can. “A strong woman looks at a challenge in the eye and gives it a wink” - Gina Carey. STEM @ Siemens provides an opportunity to women to excel in the areas of engineering and technology.
