Why do we believe in a solar future? The reasons are several: 🌅 Installed solar capacity doubles roughly every three years, growing ten-fold each decade. 🌅 Solar cells will in all likelihood be the single biggest source of electrical power on the planet by mid 2030s. By the 2040s they may be the largest source not just of electricity but of all energy. 🌅 On current trends, the all-in cost of the electricity they produce promises to be less than half as expensive as the cheapest available today. Anything that people use energy for today will cost less - and that includes pretty much everything. This and more sunny facts in the latest edition of the Economist 👉 https://lnkd.in/dysQNht6

7 Interesting Facts About Solar Energy: Fact #1: Solar power is the most abundant source of energy on the planet. Fact #2: More solar energy reaches Earth in one hour than the world uses all year. Fact #3: Sunlight takes approximately eight minutes to reach the Earth. Fact #4: About 30% of incoming solar radiation is reflected back into space and the rest is absorbed by clouds, oceans, and land. Fact #5: 173,000 terawatts of solar energy hit the Earth continuously – that’s greater than 10,000 times the world’s total energy use. Fact #6: There are over 57 million square miles of land on Earth. In order to power the entire planet, we would need to install solar panels on just over 191,000 square miles. Fact #7: 1 megawatt (MW) of solar energy can power over 200 homes.
