An economic catalyst of the transition to renewable energy is that generation and bidirectionallity, is much cheaper, easier and more profitable than fossil fuel extraction and delivery. V2G and VPP’s will help disrupt histories triumvirates with renewable energy generation and storage everywhere resulting in supply and demand cheap cheap carbon-free energy independence in even the poorest countries. Today 60% of the world‘s countries rely on others to provide their fossil fuel. #peaceandprosperity

RMI’s VP3 just published profiles of 14 VPPs that are providing 1500 MW of capacity across the US with ~4M participants. Why every virtual power plant (VPP) deserves a battery 💌 While there is a point to be made about VPPs not relying on battery energy storage systems (BESS) to function, there is not a single benefit in excluding them, monetary or otherwise. 👉 The concept of a VPP is closely related to that of demand response. It provides grid-stabilizing flexibility as well as grid-relieving curtailments. In the first scenario, which is one of low supply and congestion, assets dispatch energy or refrain from consuming it. In the second event, which is one of excess supply, they curb production. A storage architecture heightens this effect, turning virtual power plants into complete, solid, and reliable distribution networks.
