Meta has announced that they won't bring the upcoming multimodal AI Llama model to the EU due to the lack of clarity from EU regulators. In this newsletter, I'm curious about what impact the EU regulations could have on the competitiveness of EU businesses. Will the EU be left behind in the race for AI leadership, and how will this impact the competitiveness of the end-user organizations? I am also questioning whether the regulators, who are typically politically motivated, understand the ramifications of the decisions they make on business ownership of European companies. How should software vendors operating outside the EU building solutions view the EU market? There are lots of questions, and the interesting thing is that the issues are not around technology questions but more on regulations and topics such as privacy, security, etc. #ai #regulations #AIact #businessmodels #approachableAI #TELLUSInt #TELLUSWorkshops TELLUS International A-CX

What's new in Artificial Intelligence?🤖📜 1️⃣ President Biden has released a comprehensive Executive Order to regulate Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing enhanced security and privacy standards for AI systems. 🛡️🔒 2️⃣ Major tech companies, including Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google, will be required to conduct safety tests for their powerful AI models and share the results with the government before launching them to the public. 🔍📊 3️⃣ The initiative introduces watermarking standards for AI-generated content, helping to distinguish real content from deepfakes, and the Commerce Department will aid in developing measures against content misrepresentation. 🖼️🚫 🗣️ My Thoughts: Executive Orders bring a necessary level of oversight quickly. However, they also have a limitation — they're temporary and tied to the President who signs them. For long-term, consistent management of AI technologies, we should consider solutions that will last beyond the current administration, ensuring continuous trust and innovation in AI. This approach would allow for more permanent and universally accepted standards in AI technology management. #AI #Governance #Innovation #Security #Future 🌐🚀

Can AI help government agencies build trust among citizens? A new report from Salesforce and BCG indicates it can, but success hinges on first ensuring trust in AI. While 84% of Australians and New Zealanders say quality online services boost trust, only 14% consider themselves AI experts. For AI to transform digital government services effectively, agencies must prioritise earning citizens' trust by safeguarding their privacy. #AIGovernance #DigitalTransformation #PrivacyMatters #TrustInGovernment
