Getting smartwatches and smartphones out of schools is a no brainer– or more accurately, a “yes-brainer.” Personal devices disrupt teaching, learning, and relationship-building. As a former teacher, I understand the desire to add a point to a gradebook to get kids to put away phones. But this is such a waste of time and energy– a teacher should not be responsible for policing student devices, and students should not be bringing devices to school in the first place. The wave of change is upon us– schools that don’t move to ban student personal devices will be left in the digital dust. #parenting #parentlife #earlyeducation
