Happy Nurse's Week 2024! I am so proud to be a 4th generation nurse that stands on the shoulders of countless legends. My promise to the nurses that have paved the path for my success so far has 2 parts: 1. I promise to be intentional and grateful. I commit to surround myself with people that share my passion & celebrate each other's contributions - Iron Sharpens Iron. I am ecstatic to work with a courageous and innovative team of Nurses that are mission driven to deliver a workforce reality enabling clinicians with flexibility and the compensation they desire while creating financial sustainability and reliability for healthcare organizations. 2. I promise to say the hard things that need to be said. For instance, as we dive headlong into a new age of disruption & innovation at warp speed: if you're a healthcare leader whose organization is partnering with "technology firms" that don't have a Nurse voice at their executive table, ask them how they develop strategic solutions that are meaningful to real clinical users in a rapidly evolving environment. Then, ask yourself how many hours you've spent teaching them why/how systems need to operate in order to deliver seamless user interfaces & experience. If you don't like the answers, come sit by me and lets talk.
Happy National Nurses' Week! Today, as we kick off this meaningful celebration, we pay tribute to the heartbeat of our healthcare community. Nurses are the pillars of compassion and care, tirelessly serving others with unwavering dedication. Join us in honoring four remarkable nurses: Nancy Bourg, Amanda Wheeler, Tamara Miller and Dave Stillmunkes. Their teammates recognize them for their unwavering commitment and compassion. #NationalNursesWeek #NursesWeek #ThankANurse

Today I was given the opportunity to listen and learn from one of Nursing's greatest thought leaders - Dr. Jean Watson. Every #nurse learns about her theory of human caring in nursing school! She spoke to Nursing PhD and DNP students from Texas Woman's University about healthcare today and how the 10 Caritas processes can be incorporated in nurse's profession and discipline. The ANA beautifully interwove the principles in the most up to date definition of Nursing. Below are some key takeaways from today’s presentation: 1. Compassion for oneself is the foundation from which we can have compassion for others. As such, #transforminghealthcare is essential to create space for nurses to care for themselves and develop environments of healing. 2. If we focus on the problems, the problems will only get bigger! But if we pivot and focus on solutions, creative opportunities will abound! I could not help but get SUPER excited as this is at the heart of #innovation. 3. The heart and science of #Nursingcare honors human dignity. Recognizing individuals want to thrive (not just live!) must become essential to our clinical decision making. The meaning a person associates with their health (instead of a diagnosis alone) provides opportunity to live life more richly and nurses advocate for this! 4. How can #augmentedintelligence interweave the caritas principles into all aspects of planning for a healing environment, from the individual person to the health system level? Loved that this was brought up as it is an amazing, forward thinking perspective. #nursesonlinkedin
