The next newly released review article is called "Suitability of quality of life outcome measures for children with severe cerebral palsy receiving postural care interventions: a scoping review," by Jennifer Hutson, Paula Stommes, Teresa Wickboldt, and Sandy Callen Tierney. Abstract summary: Children with CP face unique challenges, making it vital to measure intervention outcomes effectively. Researchers conducted a thorough review of Quality of Life (QOL)-related publications in postural care (PC) from 1998–2022. They identified and analyzed QOL assessments for non-ambulatory CP children. This review equips care teams with the tools to measure QOL-related intervention changes, improving support for children with severe CP. #CerebralPalsy #QualityOfLife #Research #AssistiveTech To read the whole article, visit https://lnkd.in/gqr4Ey25

The importance of early pediatric eye exams can’t be overstated, yet only a small number of children receive them. During Friday’s session at #GSLS, Dr. Justin Kwan, OD, FAAO shared insight from recent research on this topic. Here are his top three poster takeaways: Based on data from 100 US practice sites and roughly 70,000 children, about 44% of kids had #myopia that was -0.50 or worse; only 0.03% of children that had eye exams were less than a year old; and only about 15% wore contacts, and those that did were generally tweens or older. In other words, many children don’t get to live out the immeasurable benefits of #contactlens wear starting from a young age when they already have refractive error. Join CooperVision in its mission to ensure every child receives an early eye exam. #fightmyopia Anna Sulley

As a Mom to twins living with cerebral palsy and one of the parent advisors of this project; I am pleased to share this webinar with you: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability of childhood with lifelong health impacts for the child and family. For CP, early detection is critical for children to access early interventions. In Canada, we are diagnosing children with CP later (mean 18.9 months) than the recommended age of <12 months. Early intensive interventions are associated with significant improvements in motor and functional outcomes. Our project aims to support clinicians in detecting CP early and quickly connecting children to evidence-informed early interventions. The purpose of this webinar is to offer an in-depth exploration of a multi-component knowledge translation strategy, the Early Detection and Intervention Toolkit for CP (EDIT-CP). Students Learning to Save Lives with our ❤️Heart Safe School Program ❤️ Our Heart Safe School® Program is dedicated to enhancing awareness and education among students and staff on the critical 3-Steps to save a life, emphasizing the crucial role defibrillators play in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest situations. This lifesaving knowledge is invaluable, not just within the school premises but in everyday situations. Cardiac arrests and heart attacks are unpredictable, and immediate action is essential. Emergency services may not always be able to arrive within the crucial 3 to 5-minute window needed to save a life. ❤️ Defibrillators: Your "Doctor in a Box" Defibrillators act as an immediate medical responder, analyzing the patient's condition, guiding through CPR, and, if necessary, delivering a shock to restart the heart. ❤️ Educating Tomorrow's Lifesavers It's vital to equip students with these lifesaving skills, as they could be the first responders not just in school, but also at home or in the community. ❤️ Are you WILLING, ABLE and READY to help save a life in case of a Sudden Cardiac Arrest ? ❤️Find out more about our Heart Safe School program @ https://bit.ly/42Wf9HX #heartsafeaustralia #HeartSafeSchool #SuddenCardiacArrest #savinglives #defibrillators #AED with Amanda S.
