It will be interesting to establish the sweet-spots behind the energy mix possibilities that Green, Blue & Green Ammonia based H2 solutions will offer in combination. After leading the South Wales Industrial Cluster Plan project it was apparent that the polarisation was unhelpful at best and positively dangerous in the worst case as over simplistic solutions were proposed that were highly unlikely to succeed. South Wales Industrial Cluster gave insights as to what collaboration with potential competing solutions could achieve in providing the inevitable "Complex" integrated solutions that will be needed for our 2050 #NetZero goals. Think being colour blind probably helps - its all shades of grey. We all pollute just by being here. After being in hospital recently - the amount of waste I caused in single use plastics, utilising resources at the hospital because decades ago I didnt take care of myself was obscene and MY FAULT. Not sure we (collectively) have the decades to realise that we need to be collaborative rather than confrontational. I am sure there will be comments to Ralph Windeatt article, but could we all consider how we journey to Net Zero in a practical way albeit we need to move a bit quicker than we originally thought, #NetZero, Black Country Industrial Cluster, Net Zero Industry Wales, #BradfordManufacturingFutures

A brief and fun conversation about the energy landscape in 2024!

This is big news in the green hydrogen space and congrats to Air Products and Total Energies! We have likewise witnessed a material ramp in commercial negotiations from producers seeking supply. For those who talk in green ammonia volumes this is over 400,000 tons p.a. Why is this happening now? - grey hydrogen produces 10tons of CO2 per ton of grey H2. - legal mandates in Europe require 42% of green hydrogen by 2030 and it takes time to build and deliver projects. So those that are exposed need to secure supplies and refineries use a lot of grey hydrogen. Refiners have some of the largest exposure from a failure to comply. It takes courage to lead and we applaud this material market announcement !

The carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) market saw relatively muted growth in 2023, expanding 23% compared to doubling each of the previous two years. Mature markets in Europe and North America have been focusing on overcoming challenges in announced projects, while the Asia Pacific market which was lagging previously, jumped forward. Almost half of the new CCUS projects announcements in 2023 were from Asian-Pacific countries.
