For many, it's a fundamental part of their daily office routine. Led by Sustainability Manager, Katharine Page, we've carefully categorised one of our client's snacks based on an internal review of their societal and environmental impact. Using a traffic light colour coding system 🚦, employees can quickly incorporate sustainability into their snack choice. As part of my role at Hospitality New Zealand, particularly event producing for #HNZ24 Conference in July 2024, I've delved into researching trends and issues within our industry. Among the myriad topics, sustainability emerges as a paramount concern, albeit daunting for most operators who don’t know where to start. However, during my investigations, one intriguing discovery has reshaped my morning routine today: twiice edible coffee cups. The pursuit of sustainability encompasses a vast spectrum of challenges and opportunities. From reducing carbon footprints to minimising waste, the journey towards a more eco-conscious future demands innovative solutions and collective action. As I sift through potential topics for exploration, the emergence of edible coffee cups has captured my attention as a tasty addition to my morning brew, and a beacon of innovation. These edible marvels offer a practical solution to the pervasive issue of single-use plastics and symbolise the ingenuity driving sustainable practices across industries. It's a tangible example of how reimagining everyday conveniences can lead to profound environmental benefits. Don’t get me wrong, I always leave the house with my reusable coffee cup, but this was more about the experience and how it served me as a consumer. As I navigate the complexities of sustainability (and conference) research, the discovery of edible coffee cups reminds me of the transformative power of small, impactful changes. It underscores the importance of embracing innovation and challenging conventional norms in our quest for a better tomorrow, whether greener, more knowledgeable or just downright more tasty!
