I’m proud to announce that I’ve just completed the Executive Master in ‘‘Leadership per le relazioni internazionali e il Made in Italy’’. This multidisciplinary Master was a great opportunity to deepen the knowledge of fields such as #marketing, #communication, #internationalaffairs and #internationaltrade, with the aim of developing the skills necessary to face the new challenges imposed by a constantly evolving reality. The project work, commissioned by ITA - Italian Trade Agency - at the end of the training course, consisted in the implementation of an e-commerce plan for an Italian product to be promoted in one or more foreign countries, taking into account the type of product, the geopolitical situation of the chosen countries, any subsidised loans for the promotion of online business, the most suitable digital tools, the strategy for the use of social media and product presentation solutions adapted to the target audience. In a constantly changing world, in which the environmental balance is constantly being questioned, consumers are increasingly looking for products that are sustainable and respectful of environmental well-being. Hence the decision to focus attention on organic cosmetics from the heart of Abruzzo that, thanks to the advanced biotechnological processing techniques adopted by the company that produces them, allow to reduce not only the toxicological risks, but also the environmental impact generated by the use of certain substances and processing methods. New horizons/New opportunities for collaboration Today is my last day in Singapore having spent a wonderful 5 years working with a great team of scientists at A*STAR - Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Nanyang Technological University Singapore and Singapore Food Agency. It has been a privilege to help build the Singapore Food Story R&D agenda together. I am thankful for the trust given to me to make Future Ready Food Safety Hub @ NTU a national centre for novel food safety research and regulatory science support. I am particularly fortunate to have been given the opportunity to contribute to the world’s first approval of cultivated meat, something which couldn’t have been done without strong collaboration across government, industry and academia. I look forward to seeing the novel food ecosystem grow in Singapore (and beyond), as well as look to new opportunities to keep working with you all. As I leave Singapore, I am headed to the US to join another fantastic group of scientists at the Monell Chemical Senses Center. Amazingly, I am doing a full circle as Monell was where I started my research career as a postdoc intrigued with chemical ecology and the role odours can play in influencing behaviour. I am thrilled to be re-joining the Monell family and being given the trust to help the scientists at Monell foster new collaborations to further our understanding of the chemical senses and their link to other areas of science such as nutrition and public health. As John Bardeen said in his second Nobel prize speech “Science is a collaborative effort. The combined results of several people working together is often much more effective than could be that of an individual scientist working alone”. The only thing I can add to John’s quote is such collaborations are even more effective when they span inter-disciplinary boundaries. So to all my network, no matter what areas you are working on whether it be food safety, chemosensory science or something entirely different, please stay in touch and reach out if you are keen to collaborate as I would love to share ideas and see how we can push forward new areas of science together! #newjob #newhorizons #newopportunities #collaborations

Coca-Cola HBC Hungary and the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences (MATE) launched a student competition to design a collection and recovery system for coffee grounds. 💡☕ Twenty-seven student groups have applied for the Coffee Groundsaver competition and have time until mid-November to develop their innovative ideas and present their solutions to the jury. The ideas need to be feasible, creative solutions worth to test in the market that enable coffee grounds to be collected and delivered to the processing site in such a way that the value of the raw material is not impaired and its usefulness is preserved. 🌍 The work will not end here, as we hope to put the ideas submitted in the competition into practice in the future among our HoReCa customers, half of whom, as revealed in the research related to the competition, admitted to being interested in introducing such a system. 🌱 Learn more about the Coffee Groundsaver competition here https://bit.ly/3RTJDqs
