#Drones are revolutionizing #logistics and #warehousing, offering innovative solutions to traditional challenges. Our recent paper, published in the European Journal of Operational Research, introduces the Stocktaking Drone Routing Problem, focusing on #optimizing drone routes in warehouses for #inventory auditing. It highlights how drones enhance inventory accuracy while reducing labor costs. We developed an Adaptive Large Neighborhood Search-based heuristic for efficient drone routing and charging station placement, considering the limited battery life of drones. The study reveals the impact of drone fleet size, charging infrastructure, and battery capacity on operational efficiency. It also examines how storage policies affect stocktaking efficiency with drones. Kudos to the co-authors, and many thanks to the editor and review team for their support. Explore it here, the paper has open access: https://lnkd.in/e9yCeDPX There is also a chapter on how drones are transforming warehouse operations in our new book “Warehousing 5.0”, check it out here: https://warehousing50.com/ cc PANUPONG VICHITKUNAKORN, Simon Emde, Makusee Masae, Christoph Glock #OperationalResearch #DroneTechnology #SmartWarehousing #FutureOfWarehousing #Warehousing50 #cedit_uds
