New Toyota news: GR Prius concept car, unveiled concept cars, new award, the iconic Gary White retiring

We have a lot to share today from concept cars that were never unveiled till recently, a new concept car that is quite shocking, Gary White – the iconic Supra driver – unfortunately retiring from the drag racing scene, and Toyota winning - yet again - a safety award. CALTY 50th Anniversary: Concept cars that were never unveiled till now

If you don’t know what CALTY is by now – it’s the first U.S.-based design studio for a Japanese automaker - which is Toyota. Here’s what they do: 

• They’ve been working as Toyota’s design team for 50 years now
• They’ve also created and scrapped a number of cars that weren’t ever shown to the public. 
• They’ve created and redesigned a huge number of cars, like the 2024 Clermont Toyota Tacoma. 

Now, as a celebration of working for Toyota for 50 years, the cars that were scrapped are being unveiled.

Gary White, the iconic Supra racecar driver, retiring

To take a ride down memory lane, Gary White rode the iconic Toyota Supra for two decades. As we should all know by now, White specifically piloted the copper Toyota Supra. The Clermont Toyota team is currently reminiscing his career with this picture of Gary White in his Supra.

GR Prius Concept Car

The Clermont Toyota Prius is a renowned gas-tank saver and now there is a sportscar version for it. Well, to be fair it’s just a concept version of what it would look like - but just imagine if it were real. Would you get one? By now, everyone should know that sportscar owners spend a lot of money on gas if they use it frequently, so we wonder what would the MPG look like on the GR Prius. 

Toyota wins Top Safety Pick+ award

Toyota is notorious for its reliable and safe cars for all groups of people in the world. The Clermont Toyota Crown was introduced to the United States in 2023 after it was exclusive to Japan. And now the IIHS - the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety - gave the 2023 Toyota Crown the Top Safety Pick+ award. 

To receive the Top Safety Pick+ award the vehicle needs to pass the following tests:

• Headlights
• Front crash prevention: vehicle-to-pedestrian, both day and night
• Moderate overlap front, both original and updated tests
• Seat belt reminder
• LATCH ease of use
• Small overlap front: passenger side
• Small overlap front: driver-side
