About us
Dougherty Family College at the University of St. Thomas (MN) offers a two-year associate degree in the liberal arts. The college is a first step toward a four-year degree for motivated students who have high financial need, who have faced challenges in their life and who don't yet have the academic profile that they are capable of achieving. This program will help them realize that full potential through rigorous courses, intensive mentoring and a comprehensive support system. The Dougherty Family College enrolls approximately 300 students who demonstrate college readiness. They will experience a cohort model of instruction that builds community and camaraderie among participants. In addition, the college provides intensive support services for students, including counseling, textbooks, laptops, meals and transportation assistance.
