  • Awareness about menopause is slowly increasing, with 78% of women saying they feel more informed about menopausal symptoms and treatments compared to five years ago. Good progress? Absolutely. Yet women are STILL under-supported in the workplace. Bonafide Health's State of Menopause 2024 Report highlights exactly that. Menopause stigma is still impacting women’s careers and many workplaces don’t have any accommodations in place for those dealing with symptoms. Despite the clear call to action from reports like this, many companies still aren’t stepping up. We need organizations to take real action to support women through ALL life stages. Read the key findings from the report here ⬇️ #WomenInWork #Menopause #WomensHealth #SupportingWomen

  • Creating a culture where women’s health is a business imperative is not just a trend; it’s a necessity. A recent McKinsey & Company survey stated that ‘women are demanding more from their employers and they are leaving their companies in unprecedented numbers to get their demands met.’ The data speaks for itself: 77% of women expect their employers to play a meaningful role in their health. At Women in Work Seattle, we heard from some of the companies leading the way by implementing policies that support women’s health, mental wellbeing and work-life balance. From flexible work environments to comprehensive benefits, many organizations are setting a new standard when it comes to prioritizing women’s health. As Elle Meza , Vice President, People Operations at Crunchyroll said: “In order to create a safe space you have to put in policies, programs and even sometimes resources and tools that actually help women… If you create a culture where managers are okay with people taking the time they need and that they are surrounded by adults doing amazing work, all you have to do is give permission.” Help us continue these important conversations and join us at the Women in Work Summit, October 30th in New York. Can you and your organization afford to miss it? #WomenInWork #WiWUS #WomensHealth

  • Investing in a holistic approach to employee benefits is not just about creating a happier workforce; it translates to tangible business outcomes including higher retention rates, increased productivity, and a stronger company culture. At Women in Work Seattle, Kristen Roby Dimlow, Corporate Vice President, Talent Acquisition, Rewards & Insights Organization at Microsoft, talked about how they chose to embrace whole-scale business transformation that emphasizes the overall health and well-being of employees with a focus not just on physical health, but mental health and women’s health issues. Kristen stressed the importance of continuously adapting to drive progress: “So it’s really about holistic well-being, equitable pay and equitable access. We really mean it. We hold ourselves accountable. We’re not perfect, we’ve got more work to do, but I feel like there’s a real spirit of holding ourselves accountable from the top to the bottom and then insights from our employee listening systems allow us to drive these inclusive benefits and improve our benefits.” Thank you to Kristen for such an inspiring session ✨ #WomenInWork #SupportingWomen #WomensHealth

  • Women make up 47% of the US workforce, with nearly 41% between the ages of 35-54. 100% of those women will go through menopause, yet its impact on the workplace remains largely overlooked.  From hot flashes and sleep disturbances to low mood and cognitive changes, there are well over 30 menopause symptoms that women have to deal with as part of the working day. As Serafina Miller from Mercer shared at Women in Work Seattle, 1 in 4 women are taking time off work, or leaving the workforce altogether, because of menopause symptoms. That’s $2 billion in lost revenue, not just to companies but to ourselves. So what can organizations do? ♀️ Raise awareness and educate employees and managers about menopause, the symptoms and impact. 💻 Offer flexible working options to accommodate those experiencing severe symptoms. 🌸 Provide access to resources such as support groups, health workshops and menopause-specific health care. 🗣️ Create a supportive culture and inclusive environment where open conversations about menopause are encouraged and stigma is eliminated. Businesses need to not only enhance the well-being of female employees, but also support, advance and retain valuable talent to boost overall productivity. As Serafina said, “We know that companies with women in leadership financially outperform those that don’t.” Let's continue to champion a workplace culture that embraces all stages of life. #WomenInWork #WomensHealth #SupportingWomen
